Jiulong Town | Peaceful & Romantic Getaway
To get here you can take a fast train to Qingyuan then make your way to the Scenic Park. I mentioned in my previous post that it’s possible to spend the entire weekend at this park as there are cute cottages with hot individual hot tubs, gorgeous views and it’s just so peaceful it makes the place perfect for a relaxing getaway. I’ve heard that during the holidays this place gets extremely packed, I went on a random weekend where it was quite empty so we really got to enjoy the scenery and explore the park at our own pace. Hotels: there are plenty of interesting cottages on site. Very budget friendly and clean inside. Some are hidden in the mountains while some are on the river with the most gorgeous view. We stayed in one of the hidden cottages (very tricky to find some cottage numbers) and ours had an outdoor hot tub which came in handy after a long day of walking. Attractions: inside the park you can find various activities. One of my favorites was the tank ride (the gun makes a sound when you shoot it). Others include paragliding, zip lining, train ride, bungee photography and several others I can’t recall. Food: food options are limited. No western food at all and only 1 or 2 delivery options so pack some of your favorite snacks cos you won’t be able to get them here. Get close to nature - A 3-day 2-night self-driving trip to Qingyuan||With not much vacation time, but wanting to take the kids out for a summer trip, I discussed with my husband and decided to drive within the province to appreciate the beautiful mountains and waters of northern Guangdong. My overall feeling about this short trip is: I'm amazed by the natural wonders created by Mother Earth, the landscapes of northern Guangdong are worth taking the time to appreciate, it's interesting for the kids to experience the countryside and farm life, and indeed, Qingyuan chicken lives up to its reputation. With my husband along, the journey was still comfortable and leisurely. Now, let me share our self-driving trip itinerary from Shenzhen to Qingyuan. 1. Itinerary Day 1 attractions: Dongtian Xianjing (4A scenic area with an entrance fee) + Experience the farmland along the way + Fruit picking We left our home in Shenzhen at 10 am, navigated to Dongtian Xianjing in Qingyuan, and arrived at a restaurant near the attraction at 2 pm after getting off the highway. We took a 15-minute rest at a service area on the highway. The first four pictures are the beautiful scenery inside Dongtian Xianjing. We first walked into the cave, then took a boat out. This cave is semi-enclosed, with an open sky at the top of the cave, cool inside, and lush ferns mixed with variously shaped stones, which made us feel both scared and curious. It took us 1 hour to tour the cave, walking and stopping to take photos. We left the scenic area after 5 pm and navigated to the hotel. Along the way, there were farmlands and fruit-picking orchards, where we took the kids to pick fresh green grapes, very sweet, 30 yuan per half kilogram. Day 2 attractions: Lianzhou Underground River (5A scenic area with an entrance fee) + Youling Yao Village (free) We had breakfast at the hotel, checked out at 11 am, and went to the attractions. I highly recommend this underground river; it's a gem of karst landforms! The cave is deep and wide, beyond what the eye can see! Deserving of its 5A rating. It took us 2 hours to tour the cave, and we left the scenic area around 2 pm. We had snacks in the car for lunch and followed the navigation to Youling Yao Village. The small village still retains the local Yao people's early houses, primitive and simple, with free-range chickens everywhere. The village is under renovation, and locals say it will start charging soon. Standing at the top of the village, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the mountains, worthy of the nickname 'Little Guilin'. Day 3 attractions: Huangchuan Three Gorges (4A scenic area with a fee) + Fenglin Small Town (free) + Return to Shenzhen We still had breakfast at the hotel and arrived at Huangchuan Three Gorges around noon. We took a boat to tour the winding river and the mountains on both sides, reminiscent of the landscapes of Guilin. The ticket was worth it. Fenglin Small Town is like a village surrounded by mountains and forests, where you can walk around. The farmers in the village were transplanting rice seedlings, creating a leisurely atmosphere full of rural charm. There's a bridge in the town, known as the 'Little Zhaozhou Bridge', which is very photogenic. The entire journey was navigated, with many winding mountain roads from the attractions to the surrounding towns, which was quite an experience. 2. Accommodation The first night we stayed at the Vienna Hotel in Shunying District of Qingyuan, a hotel that had just opened a few months ago, with very new facilities. 217 yuan per night, the value for money was extremely high. The second night we stayed in a town near the attractions, probably the largest hotel in the town, called 'Guangdong Yao Nationality Culture Hotel', with very old facilities, priced at 298 yuan per night. Getting There - from Guangzhou , it is very easy to travel to yingde. from south station, there is a 30minute train that runs to yingde. upon arriving in yingde, we took a didi to tianmengou, which took about 40minutes. the cab costed around 100 rmb. Attractions - we spent the weekend in tianmengou scenic area. this area is super cute. it consists of hot springs, in tree houses! both of which you can use. as well as that. behind the resort is the mountain. consisting of 9 points, walking up it can take several hours but it is worth it. you will be greeted by beautiful views of the countryside, tall cascading waterfalls and lush green trees.
