A great choice for an overnight stay in Zurich! Just one tram stop from Zurich main station. The hotel offers complimentary still or sparkling water in the lobby, and a kettle is available for hot water. The room design is quite creative, with a curtain separating the bathroom and sleeping area. As is common with many European hotels, there was no air conditioning during our stay
Room was nice and a lot more spacious than expected. I had booked for a single person, so not sure why the sofa bed was made, so couldn't really sit on the sofa during my stay.
Bathroom and toilet were clean and well maintained.
I booked this one specifically because of the gym. It was disappointing to find that the cable machine had no attachments other than a bar. It's ok if you like to use free weights, but think that could be improved.
It costs 7CHF to reach Hotel Krone Unterstrass from Zürich airport. Take the train from the airport to the Zürich Oerlikon station then switch to tram#11 and alight at ‘Kronenstrasse’ stop. Hotel is just next to the tram stop. The neighbourhood is very quiet once dusk falls. You’ll soon discover that 3 stops more of tram#11 and you’ll be at the Zürich main station (Zürich HB) which is the city centre. The room has manual-controlled ac compressor (thank god) even if it’s fairly cool without it (~14 deg C outside at end-Sep). There’s no mini bar fridge and they provide a petite metal kettle. The whole point of my review is to commend Laura Mannino (spelling), the first point of contact when you visit the daily breakfast buffet. With her ready smile & winning demeanour, she’s an asset to every hospitality business. My 5th floor room has a newish feel to it & I really have no complaints. If you prefer to stay at the edge of the city centre and not pay an arm/limb for those $400~500 a night room at the city centre, Hotel Krone Unterstrass is ideal. Would I come back? Yes!

Thank you for your kindness
We stayed at this hotel for the first day in Switzerland and It was a perfect choice
They greeted us with a gentle smile, with free upgraded room and all day they treated us very kindly, giving us extra towels and keeping our keys
Especially, the next day I was so sleepy that I couldn't go down to have breakfast, so my husband went there by himself, but the manager offered him to take my breakfast to our room , so I could enjoy as well
It was a perfect their generosity and their bread as breakfast was amazing, I love it!
Your hotel makes us love Switzerland more and more
and I highly recommend this hotel to you as a good start of your journey!
This is the hotel I am most satisfied with during this trip. The advantages are as follows:
1 The kitchen has complete cooking utensils and tableware
2 The bathroom has a washing machine for washing clothes
3 There are two bedrooms. If you want your children to sleep in one room and you and your lover to sleep in another room, this hotel can satisfy you
4 The balcony is nice and feels good
5 Good value for money
You can see the photos for details
The disadvantage is that it is still a bit far from the station. If you don't take the bus (I remember that the bus in Switzerland is quite expensive), it takes about 15-20 minutes to walk from Zurich Train Station
Very spacious and pretty room. We've got upgraded by the hotel as well. The staff were lovely. The hotel is small, so there isn't any common dining hall. Instead, breakfast will be delivered to your room at the morning. The rooms are on the more expensive side and there are many facilities in the room I didn't get to use tho.
The hotel is quite large, a standalone building. The front desk lady was very friendly and even learned some Chinese. We booked a triple room, which was a corner unit – there aren't many of these. The room layout was essentially a two-bedroom apartment with a hallway living area and one bathroom. The outermost room had European-style curved bay windows, complemented by a sideboard, a table and chairs, and a sofa bed, which gave it a really nice vibe (unfortunately, I didn't take pictures). The view from the window was also excellent (Picture 3).
The main issue with the room was the lack of power outlets. The entire master bedroom only had an outlet on one bedside table (they could have easily added another behind the headboard on the other side without affecting the decor). Since there was no air conditioning, the provided Dyson fan had to be placed in a very awkward spot. Additionally, for some reason, the hot water pressure was quite low, and the shower stall was small, making it inconvenient to wash hair.
Transportation is very convenient, with quick bus access to both the airport and the central train station.
Overall, it's great value for money 👍
This hotel is the most expensive and the worst hotel in Switzerland.
The location is a bit far away from the railway station, a 20-minute walk, if bus 15 can be reached.
The soundproofing of the room is not good, and the noise of the car outside and the children upstairs can't sleep.
Other hotels in Switzerland have free transportation cards, which he does not have.
The only good thing is that the capsule coffee machine is good
The shower in the room only has a half-door, which was quite inconvenient. Toothbrushes aren't standard and you have to request them from the front desk; I waited 20 minutes for mine. Apparently, there were no slippers either. Overall, the room wasn't good value for money.
The location and facilities were good, and the self check-in process was convenient. However, the room had a very unpleasant smell, like ********* or something similar, which made the stay uncomfortable. This issue really affected the overall experience. If the cleanliness can be improved, it would be a much better place to stay.
