Olympia Hotel Zurich

All staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful. There is sheltered bicycle storage on site which is useful. There is a bus & tram stop within 2 minutes to head into the city centre. My only negatives were the thin walls so can sometimes hear other guests as well as the weak WiFi signal.

Good location, very close to main station. It has reasonable price rooms comparing to hotels at the same location. They will charge you 50 chf per night as deposit when you check in.

I booked hotel Olympia for a trip to watch the women’s Euros, with two of the matches being at the nearby stadium. In terms of location if you are going to the stadium it’s in a great location as it’s only ten minutes up the road! It also has good tram excess which is only a two minute walk so it’s easy to get round Zurich from there. In terms of the actual hotel it is depressingly tired. I had one of the solo rooms as I planned on spending lots of time out so didn’t need a big room. I paid prior to arriving. When I arrived check in was easy and the reception staff very friendly! Check in was quick and easy. The foyer/reception is very tired and dated. Despite paying prior to arriving when I turned up I had to pay a deposit for the room which was nearly £250 which I wasn’t expecting. My room was dated and absolutely tiny! Zurich is expensive and in other countries you would get a room like this for probably a quarter of the price! The room had a single bed a small tv and a beside table as well as a sink in the room. Then a small room to the side that just about fit the toilet and the shower. All very dated. If you were a tall man or a larger person you would definitely struggle to use both the shower and the toilet due to the size of the room. The shower pressure was really poor also. There was only one usable plug in the room and in order to use this you had to unplug the tv and the fan. The fan is very much needed as the room was red hot even when it wasn’t that warm outside so the lack of plugs was an issue! If I was going to another event at the stadium I would stay here for a few days but I stayed six days in total and I wouldn’t do that again!
