Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan District Hotels

High price high standing. We had an amazing stay. Location: walking distance from East entrance of the park (can cross the river through a charming wooden path) + walking distance from Wulingyuan center and cute streets. Room (rating the suite with bathtub): best part of the stay. The view on the river+city+mountain is stunning, can even be enjoyed while taking a bath. Room is very spacious, ultra modern (automatic curtains, many lights, hanging chair, fancy bathroom), it has all necessary equipments and the bed is super large and comfortable Staff: extremely friendly and helped us anytime of the day (WeChat and front desk) to prepare our trip, share recommandations, arrange special needs. Service is way above average. Breakfast: the one (and only) disappointment of the stay, it looks like a canteen and clearly not up to the hotel’s standards. Nothing important as you may want to leave early to enjoy the park anyway.

I really liked the room style—the wood fit the park vibe. They upgraded us to the river room and it had a nice view of the river in front of the hotel and a balcony with a large bathtub and stone flooring. The included breakfast was nice to fill up before a long day of walking at Zhangjiajie National Park. It’s a good location, short walk to the east gate of the park and they help you create a park strategy depending on how many days you plan to attend the park which was very useful. They also have discounted tickets to the park and the Great Canyon if you book through their front desk.

We dropped the hotel our wechat prior to arrival and the Hotel was kind enough to contact us if we needed help with transportation to the Hotel. The location for the hotel is just beside the entrance to the lake (tickets required to visit the lake). It is also within 10 mins drive to the east gate for the main scenic area. There are plenty of restaurants along the road and if you walk to the other end of the road, you could reach Xibu Street (google it for more info). There is a massage parlour by the Hotel for you to get a massage after a long hike. We arrange for a didi to bring us to the Canyon as well and this hotel is definitely nearer compared with staying in ZJJ city itself. It is definitely a recommended hotel to stay.

I like the fact that you can check the availability of the washing machines and dryers on the TV screen. I also appreciate the abundant supply of mineral water at the lift lobby. Everything was good except for: (1) the cleanliness of the restaurant where breakfast was served. There was a dead insect stuck onto the bowl and there were dead insects on the glass window pane. (2) the size of the kettle counter in the room is miserably small and I even broke the mug! (2) the crew at the restaurant didn't have much customer-centric attitude. I would like to compliment staff at reception counter Mao Li Hua, who was attentive and polite and positioned herself to serve guests. However, whenever we passed by the reception in the evenings, we always saw this female and male staff chatting away by themselves at the edge of the counter.

This hotel was perfect for us. We had a lovely big room with comfy beds and a beautiful balcony with view onto the mountains. Breakfast on the 5th floor also had a great view. Slightly limited breakfast - had noodles, porridge and some bread buns, but yummy and good enough for us. The staff at the front desk were the highlight of this trip - so so helpful and couldn’t do enough. Gave us a full three day itinerary to suit our needs, bought tickets for us at discounted rate, told us how to get the buses, and even gave us a kit to soak our feet after a long day! So lovely and made the whole trip wonderful.

I would recommend staying at the Two Girls Inn, Wulingyuan, if you are going to the Zhangjiajie National Park via the east gate. This is my second time staying at the Eryatou Inn, and it felt like coming home. I was greeted warmly and with tea. I also met the sisters who owned and ran the hotel. I'm coming back for the third time in November, hopefully with friends.

Overall, it has been a pleasant stay at Yuxi with very little to complain about. The homestay manager was super helpful in providing travel tips to the ZJJ Forest while also offering discounted ticket for purchase (which were cheaper than buying online from Trip). Also, pickup and drop off at the East Gate was provided free of charge. The room was clean, a bit small but spacious enough for two. Mattress was not so comfortable but wasn't a deal breaker for us. During the night, it was quiet with the soothing sound of the small river at the back. Próbably one aspect for room for improvement would be to provide good strong coffee in the future. The coffee from the machine tasted bland and I couldn't find any nearby cafes to buy coffee from.

We really enjoyed our stay at Ting Tang, the room was spacious, clean and modern. The staff could speak English and were friendly and very helpful. They are also very responsive on WeChat. They recommended a few food places near the hotel and we loved the skewer place across the street. The location was just a 10-15min walk away from the east gate of Zhangjiajie Forest park. Ting Tang has been one of the best stays we have had in China.

This was a 5 star experience, it was amazing, the service was very personalized. They had someone in charge of our stay in the hotel so anything you needed you could just text the person and they will do their best to make your experience excellent. Our person in charge was 小张 and he made our stay feel so good. 100% recommend this stay, so relax. The only thing is that it’s far away from the city. So if you want city experience then don’t stay here because it is 40 min from the city. This is up in the mountain. In summary, the views here are sooooooo damn pretty and I love it.

The receptionist was exceptionally good. She made all the bookings for us and help us on planning our itinerary and how to move around the attraction based on the days we were there. Her instructions was very clear and it eased our trip. The hotel is very near Zhangjiajie National Forest, around rmb 7-8 taxi to east entrance. Can also walk 20min walk if weather is nice. Room is clean. However, have to alight at the bridge to walk about 2min to hotel. Driving in seems feasible but troublesome. We always take transport at the bridge.
