Riffelalp is always an extraordinary vacation experience, with gorgeous view to the Matterhorn, convenient ski-in/ski-out location and comfortable ambience. However, there are some opportunities not to become complacent: 1. Closing of restaurant Al Bosco on Friday evening It is not customer friendly at all to close one of the 3 restaurants on Friday evening in high season. The concentration of guests in the main restaurant Alexandre is becoming far too high and creates a hectic and chaotic service scene. 2. Continuously reduced menu choices in restaurant Alexandre The selection of A-la-carte menu in the restaurant Alexandre has been continuously reduced over the several years we have been visiting Riffelalp. It is also became obvious that more and more buffet service evenings (4 out of 7 nights, appetizer buffet, tartar buffet, antipasto buffet, desert buffet) were offered which is not everyone's style. 3. Quality and selection of Breakfast buffet The selection and quality of the breakfast buffet is not 5* hotel compatible. There is limited choice of bread, no berries, very limited selection of cheese, etc available. It is certainly one of the biggest opportunity of Riffelalp to get back to par of 5* hotel breakfast buffets. 4. Internet-Service The coverage of Internet service in hotel rooms is insufficient. We lost constantly connection. Minor point, but easy to fix. On the other side, I would like to highlight the exceptional service attitude of the Riffelalp team. The service attitude especially of Guillaume and Katrin is outstanding. Hope this review is helpful to keep up the level of this luxury jewel in Zermatt / Switzerland.
