The Residence @ Jaipur

We stayed here three nights last week whilst we visited the Great Yorkshire Show. We were absolutely enamoured with the place, to the extent that we have just had another three nighs here on our way back up to Scotland. First and foremost, the staff are tremendous, very helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. The hotel is in a quiet location about half a mile south of Easingwold, it is surrounded by trees and the bird song is amazing, especially in the late evening and early morning. The rooms are small but not claustrophobic, they are well fitted out, the beds are superbly comfortable and the ensuite in both rooms we stayed in was great, House and Home magazine quality, and certainly far better quality than I could afford in my own home. We had a meal in the restaurant on our last night and our only disappointment was that we hadn't eaten here last week. The meal was fantastic, I am a great fan of Indian cuisine and it is my belief that it would be difficult to find better at any price. I was moved to leave a tip which is difficult for a true Yorkshire man to do, such was the quality of the meal and the service. I really have to wonder at the motivation of the people who have left negative reviews, I have found nothing worthy of criticism.

Cheap n cheerful. The cost was £54 for one night. A comfy bed, hot water, toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities. Basic but serviceable and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. I only needed a bed for the night as quick trip to York so this suited me fine.

The hotel was disgusting. We had booked 4 nights stay, and checked out the first morning. I called to speak to the manager to be told no manager will be available to speak to. The staff weren't nice. This hotel should not be aloud to be advertised.

For the value of the stay it was good. Check in is from 3pm and we were waiting until around 4 to check in because of no one around and slow service. Other than that, food was good when ate there, no noise and rooms were clean and comfortable. Worth it

Felt compelled to leave my review to give some balance to the other reviews on this site. I booked this stay at last minute and it was the only place in my budget. Very friendly staff on arrival and check-in was prompt. The room was relatively basic but very clean, the bathroom was lovely and may have been recently updated with the shower being surprisingly good. The towels were basic, one was heavily stained and should be replaced, complimentary shower gel and shampoos were provided. Plenty of t&c sachets and uht milks, smart TV on the wall. The two lamps over the beds didn't work / blown bulbs, but the main light and another lamp did. Room could do with a couple of water glasses. The beds (1 double 1 single) were very comfortable and the pillows and duvets were lovely. At 10pm on a Saturday evening the building was silent, no noise from other rooms, the restaurant or anywhere else. The carpet leading to the the rooms could be deep cleaned and the room and corridors could do with a repaint. There was a microwave in the corridor which was great for morning's porridge. Considering the reviews and based on the price, I was really pleased with my visit and would stay again.
