There are three floors. The room is a bit small and the bed is a bit narrow. The quilt is wrapped in a sheet and has a bed cover on it, which makes it uncomfortable to sleep on. The bathroom is shared by 4 guest rooms, which is not convenient. Hygiene is very good, very clean. The English breakfast prepared by the hostess is also very good, very particular, especially the tableware, which is very elegant. There are many types of juice, yogurt, fruit, biscuits, cereals and so on.

This Beautiful Guest House is very comfortable , clean , slept well , quiet , Bed very comfortable not far to walk into York , very pleasant stay . Breakfast very enjoyable , lots of variety in choice , notice board stating where products are from .

I booked a 3 night stay at The Farthings but on arrival we were extremely disappointed especially after reading such great reviews. Firstly I thought I’d booked a room with en-suite as both my husband and I have to get up in the middle of the night. I must have made a mistake on the booking but not so sure. Anyway on arrival there was no one to greet us and we had to enter the guest house by way of a key safe. Car permit is available online we wee told but very vague. These were small problems. The main issue we had was our room was on the top floor no 7. The staircase was narrow and we are not large people. The room small and out dated and the shared shower room was the same. We could hear the people in the neighbouring room coughing and doors opening and closing. The window in our room was high and you couldn’t see out of it and in the event of a fire would have been totally inadequate as a fire escape. There was no other fire escape route and with the other problems we discovered decided to look for other accommodation straight away as it was getting late and we’d travelled some distance. I let the landlady know straight away by email. We’ve taken a financial hit but would rather stay somewhere comfortable and safe in the knowledge we could escape in the event of a fire.
