I accidentally booked for the wrong hotel accidently last minute so it would’ve been nice if they allowed for me to cancel it, but since they didn’t allow for a cancellation fee, it would’ve meant that I’d lose my money for the entire booking, therefore I made sure I attended the night

As York residents we love this pub, lovely outdoor area, sit beside the river and relax, peaceful. Food is superb, tasty, and well made. Different from traditional English pub grub, but this what gives it it's quirkyness from other pubs. Staff are lovely, friendly and welcoming. Only wish it would go back to its previous name - 5 Lions! (The 5 lions are on the city of York flag and coat of arms). If you sit in the front windows you can see the old stained glass with 5 lions.

Good location. Large family room with street view Basic amenities: kettle , free wifi and tele. No fridge and hair dryer in the room which is no big deal to us. We have a good sleep, area is safe and central. Thank you to all the staff for assisting us in our stay.

Where do I start: room 2, friend sat on the bed and it fell through as the lats weren’t secured on. Told the staff didn’t ask if my friend was ok and only concerned about the bed, which they fixed by using double sided TAPE! - mattress very thin, room was full of dust which set of allergies, windows go WIDES open very unsafe if you have children as the bed is right by the window. The curtains are very thin so the room does not get dark the lights from the building opposite shines right through, The toilet is very small not suitable if you’re a bigger person or have mobility issues and it takes around 5 flushes to actually flush normally. Which then the tap water doesn’t run properly. Is very nosey - the hallway: the plug socket was hanging off exposed on the floor, the boiler room was not locked and wide open which has wires also pipes, theirs a huge crack in the wall and the stairs are very steep difficult if you also have mobility issues. - couldn’t refund my stay as we left early as it was booked through booking website and only gave us 10% off our food. - the door to the actual hotel is a bit unsafe as ANYONE can access the hotel floors as the reception is in the pub and the door is normally closed. - we were suppose to stay 2 nights left after 1! I had expected more from reading their blurb and reviews weren’t damning. Shabby and poorly maintained. Tiny ensuite. No bath but had requested. Staff didn’t apologise for dirty towel left in bathroom. Asked for key to look bedroom window which was on ground floor. None arrived. Room not cleaned nor bed made up during stay
