What a fantastic Jem this venue is. Lovely pub, great food, comfortable clean rooms. Set in the heart of the village which was extremely peaceful when we were there. Staff were very friendly (Bridget in particular) Patrick & Claire (owners) were very attentive & friendly. Despite only staying the night the three of us were made to feel like locals from the village. All three of us say we will definitely go back there & hopefully even stay a little longer next time. Thank you to everyone involved at The Helyer Arms for making our stay perfect.

The Pub is friendly & situated in an old, historic village. We have eaten here quite often in the past *& been happy with the food, but booked as a couple to celebrate our Anniversary for 7 pm. It was very busy & we chose our main course. The young waitress could not answer our queries about the food & made a few visits to the kitchen. I ordered Chargrilled Pork loin & my wife the Fish dish. We waited a very long time & when the food arrived we could not eat it. I had a burnt, hard Pork Chop with just a very few potatoes & my wife had a small, tail end of hardly cooked fish in a pond of thick tomato sauce, with just a few hidden potatoes. Her 'extra veg'. dish was very sparce. We decided to leave & were not charged, but we insisted on paying for our drinks. We shall not be going back, sorry.

Family of four went for Sunday lunch. Lovely pub with a friendly atmosphere and the staff are excellent. My only criticism would be the alternative Sunday lunch ie fish and new potatoes. I appreciate fish is expensive but the fillet was so small it could be eaten in 2 mouthfuls. It’s priced the same as the meat lunch but I really think it is poor value. It advertised as having a herb crumb crust but this was nowhere to be seen! I didn’t raise this with the staff as it was a family celebration and I didn’t want to upset anyone. Apart from this it was a good lunch

Returned here after an unforeseen lacuna in visitation: o peerless and refulgent joy! The village is idyllic; the pub imperious; the service courteous and efficacious. Would jubilantly recommend for pint + crisps, evening dinner or Sunday lunch! Do not miss out! Many thanks to Basil, Sybil and Charles!

Great stopover (with the dogs, too). Lovely food, friendly, professional service & comfort at historic village location. On-site parking. Quiet village walks and no light pollution for clear sky at night star gazing! We will definately return another time.

Visited for lunch with a friend. We visit on a regular basis and always have a lovely meal. Staff very attentive. Great value for money. Would love to see more crumble/pies on the sweets menu. Enjoyed the blackberry/apple crumble and custard on our last visit.
