Hotels near Xiamen Science & Technology Museum, Xiamen

Took a trip to Xiamen for a few days and stayed at Xiamen Westin. This hotel is not the newest hotel in Xiamen but is situated in the middle of Xiamen island, very convenient and easily accessible. The staff are friendly and the rooms are kept clean and comfortable. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for reasonable priced and well managed hotel within Xiamen.

The hotel locates in a good location, not very far from metro (about 10 minutes walk), and close to bus stop. The opposite of the hotel is Wuyi Cultural Square (五一文化广场) which is surrounded by restaurants, city museum, science museum, city library. The hotel is well decorated. The staffs are friendly and helpful. I did not eat the breakfast so I could not comment on that, however the meals that I ordered as in-room service were quite good and the beers were great.

Hygiene: It's clean, the toilet is small like the toilet in the RV, but it doesn't affect the shower Facilities: The room facilities include TV, WIFI, kettle and vending machine, specializing in ****, but no toiletries are provided, only a toothbrush Environment: The sound insulation is not good, as long as someone is arguing or talking on the phone in the corridor, you can basically hear it in the room, but the transportation is convenient, and there are bus stops and subway stations outside.

The hotel is very close to the Science and Technology Museum and the Museum, which can be reached in 10 minutes on foot. The hotel has a parking lot, which is very convenient for going out to eat. The room is not very big. The community next to it was under construction on the day we stayed there, which was a bit noisy. One of the two rooms we booked had a strange smell, but overall it was satisfactory.

Service: I wish I could give 6 stars. The staff were so helpful and kind. Emily helped us to upgrade to a larger room and also helped us with all of our reservations etc. Every single staff member went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and relaxing. Breakfast: A wide range of cuisines including Chinese, Japanese and French, as well as your standard breakfast options. The highlight for me was the fresh, crusty French baguette - it's unusual to find such good bread in China! The freshly baked banana bread was also very delicious. Amenities: we enjoyed the pool and a massage - both were relaxing and fun. At the pool there were many kids playing and enjoying themselves, with pool floats and toys to play with, but they were still respectful and didn't trouble the other guests. We had forgotten swim caps, but the staff lent us some free of charge. The massage at the spa was very thorough - I felt like a new human afterwards - but still relaxing with a lovely calm environment. The staff in both areas were yet again delightful. Location: pretty convenient, just a 10 minute drive from the railway station and a 15-minute walk from the nearest metro station. It is a quieter part of town, slightly farther from the touristy areas if that's what you like, but still close to a good number of small local eateries and shops. We had some delicious 沙茶面 and barbecue just a block away. Just a few metro stops away from downtown if you want to enjoy that area.

Overall fantastic but only issue was with the A/C. Only at night it was get semi cold but during the day was super hot. Breakfast was great, service was excellent and location was five minute walk from metro.

The hotel is in the middle of island which can be advantageous or disadvantageous depends on your requirement. Rooms were clean and breakfast was very good. But I was a bit disappointed to see that, there was a small glass jar of “sweets to try”, when I opened it, it was all eaten and empty plastic wrapping were left inside. It kind of disgusting to see that waste was left on table and I reached into something which was touched,eaten and discarded by others.

The location of the hotel is FANTASTIC. Just 7 minutes walk to the Paragon mall and a 15 yuan by taxi to the Xiamen Railway station to take a high speed train. There is a metro station just outside the hotel. Also very near to the SM 1, 2 and 3 malls to get local food of Xiamen and to buy local fruits from the Walmart supermarket.  But the staff of the hotel are just AWESOME.  So very helpful and friendly especially Ms Alice Yee and  Mr Max Lee. Helped us to get a taxi on the first day  especially my husband walks with a walking stick and directed the taxi driver in Mandarin to get us to our destination, the Railway Station. When we asked for information for the places of interest they provided tips and ways to get to these places and wrote the names of places of interest in Chinese.  The staff made our holiday stay in Xiamen unforgettable as they made us so welcome. Even little requests for extra water bottles were met immediately  The breakfast is great as we were looking to eat local food like porridge with all the side dishes and also Xiamen noodles.

It is really an old but pleasant hotel to stay in still. Very good breakfast and my god there is finally proper internet, thanks to Marriott. I can’t use proper internet when staying in the local hotels so I booked this. So glad I did. Yes the wardrobe and carpentry are all getting old, toilet doors cannot close properly, which needs serious upgrades. Still comfortable. Quite far from the mall actually, walk 15 min. We take taxi.

I guess 5 star hotels aren’t what they used to be. Dirty nails, messy hair front liners. Check in process was unclear, the way he talks is like mumbling. And he did not bother to explain. I am a mandarin speaker and yet he still speaks unclearly. Major disappointment.
