Xiamen Siming District 2-star Hotels

I recently stayed at Desti Youth Park in Xiamen, and overall, it met my expectations nicely. The location is a strong plus – tucked in a convenient part of Siming District, it’s within walking distance to several local attractions, eateries, and even public transportation. Despite being in the city, the hostel maintains a quiet and laid-back vibe, which I appreciated after a full day out exploring. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, suitable for solo travellers like myself. Staff were helpful when needed, and check-in was smooth. The room was clean and comfortable, with basic amenities well taken care of. It’s not a luxury stay, but it delivers what it promises – affordable, functional, and safe accommodation. The common areas were well-maintained and inviting, ideal for catching a breather, planning your day, or having casual chats with fellow travellers. I didn’t use the kitchen or laundry facilities, but they were available and seemed well-organised. One thing I appreciated most was how Desti Youth Park kept things simple but thoughtful. Sometimes, that’s all you really need. Would I stay again? Yes – especially for short trips when you want a balance between comfort, convenience, and affordability.

My review may not be valid as hotel was undergoing renovations. I stayed one night following 2nights . On my return trip.the lobby was partition with wooden plywood panels. Hacking was done. The location is fantastic as it is about 100 meter from railway station and 25 meter or so from the tube. Surrounding 10 to 15 mins walk U have more than 7or 8 malls. Nearest about 100m away. Food never a problem. Small shops and mall caters to all need. Had iPad screen fixed at very fast n good price. The rooms were being upgraded so my picture were only lobby prior to renovation and outside scenery.for ppl going first time strongly recommended. Hailing a cab is about RMB 20 to 30 depending on traffic. First pic upper center is train station.

Great location. Lots of food options around. Small side alley right next to the main road. Only 3 mins walk to Bashi and maybe 10 mins to Zhongshan Lu. No hidden stairs to worry about. There's free water, coffee, tea and ice cubes at the lobby. Sofa area and long table with chargeable ports are available at the lobby. Staff was accommodating when I requested for late check out and if I could store food in their fridge. We were on the 3rd floor. Hence, could see residential flats right across the alley from our window.

The hotel is very close to Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street. There is a supermarket downstairs, which is very convenient. The reception staff are very friendly and you can get service by simply joining WeChat if you have any needs. The sound insulation is poor, please pay attention!

This hotel is located nearby Zhongshan road pedestrian street (＜1 min walk). Bus or taxi stop is in front of the hotel. Zhenhai road Metro station (exit 3A) is about 10mins walk (the path is mostly covered so a comfortable walk). If you’re heading to the Overseas Chinese Museum or Nanputuo temple or Xiamen University, then board a bus at the bus stop near the Metro station. The hotel staff is hospitable and they are informative and helpful. I asked the staff to recommend local food and got really good recommendations. The hotel is clean and comfortable. Hotel did provide laundry service with free detergent but only 2 washing machine so need to wait very long as each wash plus dry cycle may take at least 1.5hours. However, information about the hotel and room on trip.com is erroneous. First, the name of the hotel is pronounced as Tong he shun but it’s displayed as Yiheshun. As the hotel’s entrance is at a side alley, it’s very easy to miss it. Second, I booked a room with ‘landmark view’ but got a room with no window. It’s different from the description shown on trip.com as shown on the attached photo. I ended up paying more to upgrade to a slightly bigger room with windows as I stayed a few nights.

To stay at Xiamen’s tallest building, especially at this price, is just amazing. Waking up to views of the city and the surrounding mountains is a lovely start to the day. The room is spacious, and I would love to have sat down to have tea while watching the sky change. Below the apartment is a mall, so you literally have everything at your feet. Do contact the property before arriving!

We booked the 4 bedrooms apartment, if you are here for the view you won’t be disappointed. Otherwise the place is like a hostel, whole building is used for room rental, and cafes, spa are on the same building. We were on 53rd floor and there is a cafe a few unit away. It seems that they can run any kind of business as they pleased. Mostly young adults and the place is very very busy, I guess it’s because it’s next to the university. They make you register for check in on an app but all the gate and lift access system are broken. We came from B1 carpark and we can take the lift right up to the room without any security check, I was worried about security but it seems that there are cameras everywhere. The apartment was disappointing as it was old and run down. The mahjong table was broken, the sofa are not comfortable, the shower room is mouldy and if you use the rain shower it will flood as the drainage is not efficient. The kitchen was fitted with Miele oven/washer/hood but they don’t seems to allow you to use it as they keep bedsheets and miscellaneous thing in all the drawers and oven. No utensils of any kind. We did make use of the big fridge though. I do have to say the owner/housekeeper and cleaner are very responsive to all the requests, my aircon was broken and they send someone to fix it at 10pm, but can only be fixed the next day, luckily I have the spare room to sleep in for the 1st night. (Aircon is loud in the small room too, had to wear earplugs) The view from the apartment is magnificent, period.

The hotel was excellent! Xiao Yu (小余）is a fantastic clerk and is very attentive and professional. The room had comfortable mattresses and very comfortable pillows. Breakfast was convenient and tasty.

It seems like the hotel was recently renovated, but the workmanship leaves much to be desired. The rooms are not soundproof, you can clearly hear people talking from neighboring rooms. It’s small and stuffy. The worst part was the terrible smell coming from the toilet, which made the entire room reek of sewage. It’s likely due to faulty or incomplete plumbing. Over the course of our two night stay, we killed four cockroaches, definitely coming from the bathroom. We found one roach under the bed when we just checked in and the day after it still there. Housekeeping doesn’t clean the room, they only provide bottled water and take out the trash each day. Towels aren’t provided either, instead, they offer disposable ones, which are wasteful and environmentally unfriendly. The best part is the location of this hotel in the middle of pedestrian street of Xiamen.
