My all time favourite hotel! (It used to be Gravetye Manor in Sussex) The weather did help. It was gloriously sunny and therefore the scenery was stunning. But we had a fantastic room (room 12) The food and service was very good. We shall definitely be back.

This is a very sincere review, I just left this place, we went there for my birthday March 30. The place has the most beautiful views ever, I love it, but I was a bit disappointed with the bed, come on, how can you pay that much money, to sleep in a horrible joint mattress bed? I spent the night in the middle of 2 mattresses, very uncomfortable, my back wasn’t happy. : My other complaint was the food, we went to have a birthday dinner and it was not very good, over priced, very small portions and didn’t taste very good. I had a lobster prawns salad £24 and it came with 2 small pieces of lobster and a few prawns, and a bunch of lettuce. Come on, how can you guys charge that much for this? I accept that we are paying for the location, but at least serve good food, breakfast was also very very simple. But once again, the views was amazing.

This hotel attracts us back time and time again, lost count of the number but been visiting with various dogs since 1987. The Staff are simply the best, friendly and forever making a fuss of four legged friends as well as looking after us to the highest standard. I would advise any visitors to aways remember to book your dogs in when seeking accomodation, a must for all high end hotels not just this one. The rooms are tastefully decorated and I've lost count of the number of times that I've overheard visitors describing the view outside as comparable to Lake Como. You need the sun however and fortunately we got that in abundance this time, not bad at all for March!

We stayed at Langdale Chase for our 10th wedding anniversary and it was fantastic. From booking to departure all the staff were warm, welcoming and friendly. We booked a Windermere Feature room as we had our dogs with us. The room was big, comfortable and really well equipped with fully stocked mini bar and coffee machine as well as a seperate sitting area. Great view from our room too and easy access to the garden. We loved the help yourself snacks located by the ice machine! A very nice bonus! We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night and we enjoyed good food. This is hotel is premium priced but you certainly get what you pay for which is a 5* experience. We loved our stay here and will most definitely be back again.

Had booked The Boathouse for my husbands Big Birthday but was contacted about a week before to say that it was now unavailable because work was being done on it. Was very disappointed but agreed to stay in a different suite. Initial reaction was great. The Building and its incredible views were impressive. Ella, who showed us around before leaving us to enjoy a complimentary glass of fizz was lovely. But when we asked to go to our room a little before 3pm we were told quite abruptly it wouldn't be ready for at least another half an hour, even though I had notified the hotel we would be arriving early. The Suite was lovely, with a sizeable bedroom and bathroom with great views, and the added bonus of a large balcony and hot tub. BUT it felt lacking for the price paid. There was no pillow menu, and the pillows were very hard and so we had an uncomfortable sleep. We asked for them to be changed the next day and they were. There was a well stocked fridge, but all items were chargeable apart from 2 small bottles of water and a tiny bottle of milk. We had been advised there was a price list but we never found one, so chose not to use it. When we have stayed in other luxury hotels there have always been 'treats', like a bottle or fizz/wine, chocolates etc to make you feel spoilt but there was non of this. The toiletries in the bathroom were lovely, in refillable containers but the bath salts were not refilled the next day. We had dinner the first night, which was nice but did feel very over priced. Breakfast on day one was fine, though the continental buffet was a little sparse and wasn't covered, we saw numerous flies on the cooked meats. Breakfast on day two, however, was very disappointing. Our order was taken but the waitress soon returned to say the pancakes were unavailable that day, though they were still on the menu. When our subsequent order came items were missing, it was hard to get staffs attention and then there was a further wait, we were also offered toast which never came. Again the continental buffet was lacking, the fruit plate was very sparse. We saw other people having to return incorrect food and waiting for missing sides, so we decided to leave early and cancel the afternoon tea we had booked. We were both disappointed that our celebration getaway had not met expectations, especially considering the price. At checkout we were asked if everything had been ok with our stay and even though we said "more or less" in a disappointed way, reception seemed disinterested and didn't question us further. After having high expectations of a luxury experience at an award winning hotel, we left very underwhelmed and disappointed.

Hi , I’m not one to complain but this was really strange to see a ( star hotel being run like this I was rushed through to the lounge areas to a plethra of dirty tables glasses and plates everywhere not a staff member in sight and about 2 customers with the exclusion of myself I mentioned to the lady that brought me through who said she would ask somebody to clear the table I requested it was only a few glasses it made me wonder why she couldn’t pick it up herself I waited around 20 minutes for somebody to take my order only to walk up to the bar and be told to sit back down and somebody would come to me abismal really staff need a Reality check I understand it’s out of season and they may be shortages but there’s shortages and then there’s what I’ve witnessed today I will be taking this further .

Loved - It is a stunning building in a stunning location, set on the lake. The building interior is fabulous and has been tastefully renovated. Our room was very up to date and comfortable whilst being sympathetic to the age and style of the building. The 'night light' next the toilet was genius - we have never seen that anywhere else. The cooked breakfast was superb. The toiletries were luxurious, and it was so nice for them not to be fastened to wall so that the products such as the body lotion could be used whilst getting dressed. Loved that fresh milk was available in the room in a glass bottle along with the plant-based m!lk that was requested. The coffee machine in the room produced excellent coffee. Our visit was for Valentines Day, which is also my birthday. The glass of bubbly on arrival was a lovely touch. There were also brownies in the room (not sure if this is usual) as well as a beautiful birthday card. The restaurant staff also acknowledged my birthday and thankfully did not sing Happy Birthday!! Dislikes - The room was short of a couple of coat hooks to hang wet/outdoor gear. This could be accommodated in the area as you come into the room. The bath was slippery and NEEDS 2 grab rails fitting and access to a bathmat - these are health and safety issues. The continental breakfast option was sparse. The coffee at breakfast was dreadful and the tea not much better. The cauliflower cheese was a cauliflower steak with a cheese sauce which was ridiculously overpriced. We would definitely stay again but would have our evening meal elsewhere.
