It has took me some time to consider should I write the review. My wife and I booked the boat house that is part of the hotel, the boat house overlooks the lake. We were shown around the boat house by the duty manager. We were shown a small bed room and a small bath room on the first floor, we were expecting to be taken down stairs to the live room or lounge, but no there was no other rooms. The TV was in the bottom of the bed, when you press the button to raise the TV you have to lie in bed to watch and then the view of the lake is blocked. The room felt very claustrophobic the money we paid we both felt ripped off £1600 for two nights, When I complained at reception we were told you could have used the hot tub on the roof. We were also told that we has exclusive use of the jetty, considering we did not have boat the jetty was not mush use. People need to understand that this a very small room and definitely not worth the money. We have stayed in the main hotel which is a much more comfortable space and much better value for money.

We returned to the Langdale Chase restaurant while staying in the area and had previously enjoyed lunch here. We got off to a poor start due to our mistakenly booking the wrong evening but they found us a place even though they were very busy, so far so good. After making our choice from the menu and starting with scallops which we thoroughly enjoyed, we settled in to enjoy our evening. My main was the lamb to be served pink and my friend ordered halibut, both were overcooked and the sauce withe lamb tasted burnt. The cheese board to follow was extensive and interesting, all that we chose were lovely but the portions were minuscule. Although we knew from the menu prices that the meal was going to be expensive we felt that overall it was not value for money. For the cost, this should have been Michelin star quality, I’m afraid the Langdale is nowhere near that standard, in fact the saving grace of the whole experience was the service we received from Bethany, a new, enthusiastic recruit who really did her best to look after not only us but all others dining there.

Hotel was Very clean. The reception was very nice and Very clean. The staff Very friendly. The food in the restaurant was very expensive and very poor quality. Not good. The workman from 22:00 were very very noisy. It quieten down after just over an hour or but carried on a good few hours. If you stay here avoid the restaurant at night although the breakfast was nice.

Just had a two night stay in a ground floor Windermere room which was very nice with a lovely view of the lake and a small outside dining space. The bed was the best I have ever slept in and was perfect in every way. Our room was an upgrade as original Fellside room was not available due to exterior work being carried out. We were shown the original booked room by a lovely member of staff who was so kind but on reflection were so pleased of the upgrade given as that room was very basic. We had a meal in the Bar area but felt there could have been more choice offered on the menu. We found the meal quite over priced for what it was. The breakfast on both mornings were just OK but again more choices could have been given. Whilst we enjoyed our stay we were not blown away as expected by this refurbished 5 star Hotel and quite honestly we will not return. The views of Windermere are what this Hotel thrives on relies on for custom.

We had visited Langdale Chase prior to their renovation and had an amazing experience. We were really looking forward to visiting again. However, the beautiful views are now unfortunately ruined by the rude and obnoxious staff! Would rather spend my money elsewhere!

Fantastic stay in the boat house, it’s truly an amazing place and done to such a high standard I wish we could have stayed two nights as we didn’t want to leave. We also had a meal in the restaurant which again was stunning, everything was cooked to perfection and the sticky toffee pudding wow. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Thanks to Mike for saying hello and being so welcoming. We will definitely be back next year and again will bring the sunshine ☀️

First ever visit to Langdale Chase for afternoon tea. The setting and refurbishment are beautiful and would love to come and stay sometime. Grounds have wonderful views and are clearly very well maintained. We had a lovely table overlooking the lake. The food was delicious. Beautifully presented and some really lovely flavours in the savoury options. Great to have some imagination rather than standard afternoon tea sandwiches. It was hard to decide between the ham hock, crumpets and lobster roll for the favourite dish! The cakes were beautiful and such a lot of time and effort had clearly gone into creating them. Lovely light scones too. Definitely one of the best afternoon teas I’ve had and would recommend! The Swallows and Amazons theme and the tableware were perfect and it was nice to have the booklet explaining the ideas. For the food, setting and theme, it’s definitely 5 stars but have overall I have opted for 4 as at this price point, it should be flawless. The service isn’t quite right. Staff were lovely and attentive but I wasn’t entirely sure what their approach was supposed to be. Sometimes relaxed/casual/trying to have a chat with you and other times felt as though you couldn’t even get a bite of food without someone else more formally checking everything was ok/offering water/hot drinks etc. No milk with tea and had to ask for it twice. Drinks menu given but we weren’t asked if we wanted anything from it (expensive drinks even in this area). Some plates from savouries left on the table while cakes were brought out and remained there. This really isn’t a criticism of the staff as they were hard-working and very pleasant/keen to look after you. However, when a service charge is added to the bill, you really do expect it to be exceptional and it slightly misses the mark with the details. Overall, it really was a lovely experience and one of the best afternoon teas I’ve had. It really is attention to detail that would make it perfect.

We had 7 nights at The Langdale chase in a lovely suite with Panoramic views of the Lake Windermere. The staff are excellent and very attentive espeially Jake who brough very heavy cases down 3 flights of stairs when leaving, he was also very easy to get on with as were all the staff. The restaurant is expensive but remember you are in a first class hotel and things are not cheap, so if you find it expensive set your sights a bit lower than the Langdale. The ony downside but just for me really was having to negotiate 3 flights of stairs daily with an ACL ligament tear (No Lift) , but I got along . If you really struggle going upstairs this hotel is not for you, but it may well be worth the little stuggle.
