Holiday Inn Express Wichita South

I really liked my overnight stay at this property. It has a nice curb appeal as you drive up. Inside the lobby, hallways and room are nicely maintained. I did not see any tell-tell signs of worn tired product. Either it's been renovated recently, or major kudos to the maintenance team. This property was so nice, convenient and reasonably priced that I gave it four stars in spite of the staff. Their friendly score would be a 1 for me. I would like to assume the staff shortage nationwide is the issue because the employees here just do not show any effort to care. I might even say they are rude. I ran into this at the front desk, the clean team on my floor and the attendant working the morning breakfast. FYI breakfast is included in the price of admission, but it's average at best. The vast majority of the food is high calorie, carbohydrate filled and/or greasy. There is healthy food available, but you have to search to find their alternative options.

I usually stay at Choice Hotels due to my points exchange but haven't been satisfied with the comfort of the bed and room. I decided to try Holiday Inn Express. The room was clean and the bed felt like a cloud. Also enjoyed the chaise lounge instead of a bulky chair

We wanted a hotel with an indoor pool, hot tub and included breakfast. We got all that with this Holiday Inn Express. However, I think we were given a room that wasn't ready for guests. We checked in around 7 pm or so. There was no tissue box under the cover in the bathroom. There was no shower curtain. We found a water bottle in the floor. I don't think the floors had been swept or vacuumed. We were able to get tissues and a shower curtain. The breakfast area was a good size, but both the juice machine and pancake machine were down at the time. The issues we experienced were not just ”attention to detail” items, but regular upkeep and maintenance.
