Ensuite bathroom was grubby. The floor required footwear. The shower was dangerous with two temperatures freezing or scolding. The entire building was grubby bordering unclean. It was clear the staff hated working in hospitality. Guests seemed to be a real irritation to them all through out our stay. Amongst our disappointments our bed was not one of them. It was clean and cosy.

We have stayed here numerous times, Christmas and Summertimes. So, so dispointed with our two night stay B&B. We stayed in the top Discovery Room, one of the windows velux broken, all blinds disfunctional, the bathroom had been roughly patched with sealant. The two 2 seater settees needed a good clean infact, the room needed redecorating along with the premises. The Staff looked disengaged and tired like they didn't want to be there. Once again very disappointed after good few years of staying here.

Been before so thought wed try again very dissapointing poor menu we decided on fish pie and pork both we left we didn't get any feed back when we were asked was all OK and we said not good

Expected so much more! Pre booked Sunday Lunch, very average and double the price of other lovely Sunday Lunches. We have been to many and this has been the worst. Over rated and over priced. Staff abrupt and it looked rough. Very disappointed! There are better places to eat!

We stopped here for one night. We had a great time. Stayed in the warrior queen room. It was a lovely room. Very clean and tidy. Bed was a super king and really comfy. Had a great night's sleep. Nice and quiet too. Breakfast was lovely. Staff were really lovely too.

Booked here for my parents golden wedding anniversary, rang at 2.30pm asking if we could get in any earlier because we had our cases to be told no check in till 3 pm which was fine but didn’t sound very welcoming and was quite abrupt on the phone so we waited in the bar and ordered a drink, took up to the room that was pretty disgusting , dusty and dirty, needed a good hoover and clean, the furniture was smelly and really old and worn, broken window with a note saying do not use. Pillows were so flat and old, full of cobwebs and spiders in all the corners and shower, the shower either burnt you, went cold or turned itself off! The shower screen didn’t even work and it had no seal on it. The tv wouldn’t work as it wouldn’t even connect to the WiFi! . Couldn’t have a cup of tea with it being warm weather as the bit of milk they put in an old glass bottle the night before was sour by the morning, breakfast I wouldn’t even feed to the seagulls and my daughter refused to even try it the next day, the butter and toast was nice that’s about it. Fruit juice offered but not even kept in a fridge so that was warm. The youngest girl was nice and polite but the one with the lip filler and plait, just rude and unwelcoming, could go on and on! Definitely would not recommend

Ideally located in the centre of Whitby, the White Horse & Griffin is (199) steps from the Abbey, Whalebone Arch, the Harbour and all the other sights of Whitby. (Short walk from the train station and this is the recommended travel to Whitby!) A well-established building the rooms will not be suitable for those who are less mobile but our room (Dickens) was all that was needed for a single night stay, including a large en-suite equipped with bath and shower. Breakfast is served in the restaurant and offers a good variety of dishes to start your day. Would recommend to all Whitby visitors.

We had a one night stay in the Discovery family room. The room was very spacious and the two single beds were separated from the double bed and sitting area. The room was clean and the beds were very comfy. Tea and coffee was provided but alas no milk. The bathroom was a little dated but this did not other us. This room is on the top floor so out of the question for anyone with mobility problems. We did not know the history of the Inn before we booked but the it was so interesting and quirky. We were made a delicious cocktail in the bar and the breakfast was lovely. The inn is situated right in the middle of town with a car back about 10 mins walk away. We would definitely return although my husband could swear that he heard breathing of the night!! It might have been the wine he had been drinking
