There is a sea view when you open the door. The room is slightly small, clean and tidy, the service is warm, and the breakfast is a standard English breakfast.

The hotel is right next to the sea, and the scenery is pretty good when the weather is good.
The facilities are quite decent, and you have to open more than ten doors to get to the highest floor.
The most unacceptable thing is that when we went to have breakfast in the morning, we were told that there was no portion for us (the price included two breakfasts). They said they gave me the key when checking in and left without having time to confirm with me. Need breakfast? ? ? The fact is that after I got the key, I said thank you and was about to leave. I saw the waiter was hesitant to speak and didn't say anything in the end. In the end, they only provided us with some milk bread and no hot breakfast. It was really a bad experience.
However, after we left our things behind when we checked out, a waitress came out and gave them to us. Thank you very much.

The location is fabulous. Right opposite the beach and within walking distance of many amenities and lovely places to eat. Emma and Zed were excellent hosts. The rooms were well proportioned and tea and coffee facilities topped up everyday. The only downside was that there was no lift. We knew this when we booked but didn’t account for the amount of stairs. Zed did offer to take up our bags which was really helpful. Breakfast was really good and plentiful with plenty of choice. I’m not a big cooked breakfast fan ( my husband loves one though) and from a personal point of view I would have preferred pastries or croissants . However there was a good selection of cereals, fruit and yoghurts. We took part in a ghost walk with Dr Crank which I would recommend and sampled fish and chips at Magpies (beautiful) . Cosa Nostra( Italian) well worth a visit. All in all it was definitely value you for money and we would recommend both The Riveira and Whitby.

On arrival we received the warmest welcome. Everything was well explained. The room was comfy and clean. 2 of us have Ceoliac Diease and was catered for, was not an issue at all. Was a short walk to the beach or down to the main centre. We will definitely go back for another stay.

Had a great couple of nights, with excellent breakfast. Great view from my room a nice spacious single. Emma and Zed were great hosts, and the staff very friendly. Would definitely go again. Thanks for making my trip perfect.

Couldn’t fault it. My room was clean and comfy well presented with everything I needed. Breakfast was perfect and even catered for my request for fried bread.

What an amazing place to stay! The room was perfect for what I needed. Just the right size, clean, well maintained & stocked with a kettle and enough coffee for the week I was there. The staff felt more like friends with how they welcomed me into the guest house and they spoke to me. The Riviera is less than a minutes walk from the beach, 5 minutes walk to the pier and boasts spectacular views on sunrise and sunset (Depending on time of year). The breakfasts were tasting and filling and came with a wide range of options. I genuinely can't believe that I stayed here for a week for as little money as I did. Thank you to all the staff who helped make my stay everything it was. I'll be back again next year.
