Thistlebank Townhouse

Weekend away Amazing host,views and car park 5 mins walk to the harbour. What more could you ask. Magpie was amazing

We enjoyed our mini break stay at the Thistlebank Townhouse in Whitby. Our host was very friendly and greeted us on arrival and was helpful and informative.

Great location Spacious room, great location, helpful and friendly staff.

What a gem this place is! We booked a superior king room, and boy, did we get a superior room! The room was more like a suite, with a huge super king-size bed (a four-poster), a lovely sitting area, and a really nice bathroom. There was a kettle with plenty of tea and coffee and a good supply of milk provided. We were shown to the guest pantry, which has a fridge for each room, extra supplies of tea/coffee/milk and toilet roll, as well as additional cups, plates, cutlery etc should we need it. There is also a lovely sitting room, games room (with pool table) and a garden for guests to use. Our host, Nathan, was genuinely friendly and helpful, and made us feel really welcome without being intrusive or overbearing, exactly what we like in a host. We will definitely be back!

After a tortuous journey,not aided by incorrect address detail’s,(..We had 18 Bagdale when it should have been 19..),plus a postcode which took us to front of House,(..Busy road,double-yellows,no parking or stopping…),when,in fact,we needed the Post code for ‘Walker Street’,which we obtained from the Owner,(…Good job his neighbour was in,to get it off,or we’d have been scuppered…).After we found the rear and our Parking Spaces,(..the ONLY high spot..),we met our Host and seemingly a nice welcome.Unfortunately,after traipsing my Wife and I,(..who had arranged this Weekend as a Birthday treat…),up to a Attic Room,he apologised that the Room we had booked was not available, he immediately offered us an £80 refund which we foolishly accepted,(.. hindsight is brilliant, isn’t it?…), but we were so surprised that we went along with it even when he mentioned that it had happened before. The more we thought about it the angrier we got. We would not wish anyone else to go through what we did so I would say beware ‘Booking.com’,(..🤔’Double-Booking.com,anyone?..),and beware this venue.PS..The ‘Superior Double Room’ may have been a total different ball game but we never got to see it and never will…..
