One of the best home stays/hostels I've ever stayed at. The host is so nice and friendly. He rented his short and long boards to me for a very fair price, we went out surfing together most mornings. He is always around to help you if you need help. His English is good enough! And his wife is also super friendly and also speaks English! He recommended me where to rent a scooter. & There were some other solo travelers so it's nice to make friends. It's really good vibes and I will definitely stay here again next time I come!

A great place that you'll want to return to. Very welcoming atmosphere, nice people around. They will always help you and give you advice if you don't know something — something that is especially appreciated by foreigners in China.

Best place I stayed in my 3 months in China. The place was kept very clean. Gorgeous area. Good place to meet other travelers, and a lot of them spoke English surprisingly (though it’s also a lot of families that stay here).
Common area included a nice table with chairs, and comfy bean bag chairs. WiFi wasn’t very fast but was mostly good enough for me to get work done.
It’s a tourist area so while there are a lot of places to eat, most of them aren’t cheap by China standards.
Bunk bed was comfy, no complaints. It had a curtain, shelf, light, charging area, and there was an extra pillow which I appreciated.

Come for the surf, stay for auntie Liu’s dumplings ❤️. Everything is v clean and homey and the atmosphere is perfect for getting remote work done. I stayed at another home stay in Riyue which was more expensive with no life 😒 - wish I had come to Roots sooner. Auntie Liu is the best, she will take good care of you。
Although i came to just surf/work and my Chinese is quite poor, i was able to make a lot of new friends as a solo traveler which was quite unexpected! The boss can also help you with surfing ~ I will definitely be back soon

A Hidden Gem with Amazing Vibes
This place is truly beautiful, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The boss is incredibly friendly and open — it’s so easy to have a genuine conversation with them. Everyone I met there was kind and pleasant, which made the whole experience even better. The overall vibes are super comfortable and relaxed. Definitely a spot I’d love to visit again

The room was really clean and view was superb. The owner was really nice and helpful too. I loved the relaxing vibe, location was quite convenient to buy some snacks and food too. I would come back next time for my holiday! Thank you Roots! 谢谢你们的服务！会再回来入住！
