Best Wakayama Hotels

"This has to be one of the most spacious rooms I've ever stayed in in Japan. Our twin room had enough extra space to comfortably fit 6-7 28-inch suitcases, plus a small sofa. It's a little far from the JR station, so I'd recommend taking the bus. There are many routes available, and it only takes about 10 minutes to get there; walking would take around 30 minutes. The cleanliness was also excellent. If your room doesn't have a view of Wakayama Castle, don't worry; the restaurant on the 3rd floor features floor-to-ceiling windows that offer a great view of the castle. The breakfast selection was very extensive and included many local specialties, such as salted plums (umeboshi) and whitebait. I recommend trying them at the hotel first to see if they suit your taste; that way, you'll have a better idea when buying them at souvenir shops outside. The Western breakfast options, such as bread, were quite standard, but the Japanese options were fantastic."

"We landed at 8 PM, boarded the JR at 8:40 PM, and reached Wakayama Station by 10 PM. The hotel's location was incredibly convenient – just about 100 meters to the right after exiting the central gate. The receptionist was Chinese, exceptionally friendly and welcoming, which really helped us relax after a long day of travel. They also provided us with a local map and recommended places where we could still find yakitori at that late hour. The room was relatively spacious, and having triple rooms is genuinely convenient for families traveling together. However, the breakfast, which came highly recommended by others, set my expectations a bit too high. Personally, I found it relatively simple with limited choices, though it was sufficient to fill you up."

"On my first day in Japan, I checked into this hotel, which is incredibly conveniently located right around the corner from the JR station exit. It was absolutely no hassle with luggage. The hotel room was clean and featured large floor-to-ceiling windows. Unfortunately, I arrived too late to experience the rooftop spa. Breakfast comes highly recommended, offering panoramic sea views through its three walls of floor-to-ceiling windows, and the food selection was abundant. From the JR platform, it's easy to transfer to services heading to attractions like the Cat Train line and Shirahama. The commercial complex on the hotel's second floor houses a food street and a local artisan market. Directly from the hotel's second floor, you can access the Wakayama City Library. If you have time, I highly recommend visiting it with children; it's spread over three floors, and my child was thrilled to discover original Detective Conan manga there."

"Facilities: Quite new, you can also do laundry Hygiene: Clean and well-maintained Environment: It's worth living alone, it's at the east exit of Wakayama Station, and there's a 711 next to it, which is very convenient Service: The front desk helped check in quickly and can also store luggage, which is great"

"Value for money. For the price paid. Can't complain much as got free driving from Kada station to the hotel. Cons is need to get the pic from train station to call as the number on the Google map and the banner can't go through. Recommended to use the hotel transport as walking is too far. Pros everything. There is a laundry coin as well which save our life alot as we travel 3 weeks to Japan. Do note the awajima shrine is just beside this hotel. Must visit and do see the sunset and sunrise. Cons far from station"

"The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from JR Wakayama Station. The breakfast was fantastic, and it boasts a public onsen bath and sauna. They also offer complimentary udon noodles in the evening. The staff were wonderfully attentive. The rooms are a good size, and the price offers excellent value for money! We also enjoyed sushi at Umeya, conveniently located right opposite the hotel, where we received a complimentary sushi dish with a coupon from the hotel."

"It was a great service, location, and facilities for the price. It was spacious enough for a family of four to relax comfortably. Because it is located right in front of the beach, the sound of the waves, the sound of the wind, and the ocean view were the best throughout my stay at the hotel!! It is close to downtown Osaka and the amusement parks such as Marina City. I went fishing on the beach right in front and caught 4 red sea cucumbers. The breakfast was also clean and delicious. I think I will use it often."

"Fabulous seaside view and nice Japanese traditional style onsen with Seaview. They also switch male and female side every day so you can enjoy both onsen in one trip. Their check out time is 10am and check in around 15:00 so the time you can enjoy is a little limited. But I would recommend you take the breakfast and dinner inclusive to have the whole experience and it is quite far away from any food and no convenient transport except transfer to city center every morning."

"The hotel is located near Wakayama Station. You need to go out from the east exit of the station. The room is not big. Two big suitcases, one behind the door and one on the luggage rack, can barely be opened at the same time. The room is set up like other hotels, but there is no yukata and coat hanger. The coat hanger is replaced by a simple wooden strip nailed to the wall. It is suitable for short-term stay. There is a coin-operated laundry service downstairs. The only surprise is that this hotel actually provides free breakfast service, with simple breakfast food, such as bread, sandwiches, coffee, drinks, and Japanese breakfast soup, rice balls, side dishes, rice, etc. Good value for money."

"This was second stay this year whilst visiting my son.  Hotel is a short stroll from main railway station & a large department store with food outlets.  Staff at hotel are helpful & polite with a varying grasp of English.  The breakfast is reasonable but with room for improvement.  For European pallets there was no cheese or cold meats, limited bread choice & only undercooked scrambled eggs but this is common throughout Japan.  However, I was disappointed on one aspect.  Had been expecting some fresh oranges - Wakayama grows them - on both my visits none appeared.  Bicycles are also available for hire & we did this free of charge whilst visiting  in April & it was thoroughly enjoyable & a good way to sightsee.  I would recommend this hotel."
