Bansyoukaku Shikishima

Not bad. It takes a few minutes to walk around on the bus. There are no people in the key hot spring town. It is very comfortable. The specialty of their restaurant is food, which is better than the breakfast and dinner at Daishoya. However, the hot spring is too ordinary and the price is well worth it.

The facilities were neat and clean with an old-fashioned feel, and the meals were satisfactory for everyone. The surroundings are quiet and I think this is the best ryokan for relaxation.

The newly renovated spacious rooms and the half open-air bath are the selling points. The hotel has all the amenities so you can relax in your room. It's far from the so-called hot spring town so it's difficult to walk around, but there's no need to go outside. It was a cold day, but we were able to close the window of the half open-air bath, which was very convenient. There is a step of over 10cm between the washroom and the living room (bedroom), which may be dangerous if you're not used to it. Meals were served in groups in semi-private rooms surrounded by large lattices in the main room, so it was nice and relaxing. Of course, the food was good too. The staff were very friendly, but I personally felt they were too kind, which is a difficult thing to do in the service industry! There are two air conditioners installed in the room, which are for when they break down.

It was nice to have a polite response from the reception. Meals are common both in the evening and in the morning. At night, I had the most popular Saga beef, but it was a bit disappointing, even though I was looking forward to it. The most disappointing thing is the open-air bath in the room. When I came back from the meal and tried to enter, there were a lot of insects. In the morning, in order to add hot water to the open-air bath in the room, I ran the shower (because the insects were dead) and stored hot water, so I was able to use it in the morning without any problems. It's a waste to have an open-air bath, but it's a minus. I'm surprised it hasn't been an issue until now. I want you to improve.
