Everything about the why house will make your experience is Sri Lanka extra special, unique and unforgettable. Couldn’t recommend this place enough (I’ve been lucky enough to stay there twice both times equally insane). The rooms are large, spacious and bright with a traditional feel, the pool and restaurant have an unmatched chilled vibe and all the staff and friendly and helpful. Henrietta will of course make your experience that extra bit unique and ensure your trip is everything and more!! Not to mention the food is lush:)

The Why House was our final stop on a two-week family trip to Sri Lanka and we definitely saved the best until last. The whole site is absolutely stunning with lush gardens, stylish accommodation and a heavenly pool that has just been re-paved. Henrietta is an absolutely charming host and it feels more like you are staying in a villa than a hotel. The food was the best we had in Sri Lanka and the team were very happy to make more basic 'kids food' for our children. We stayed in the Garden Villa with our two teens on the mezzanine floor, which worked perfectly for our family of four. There are not many places that I would re-visit, but I would return to the Why House in an instant as it is such as special place.

Everything about this hotel is utterly beautiful from the rooms to the food. The Why House is definitely a home away from home and I cannot wait to go back to make more memories !!!

We stayed here as the last part of our tour round Sri Lanka, and what a fantastic experience it was! The warm welcome from the very lovely owner, Henrietta, and her team, the delicious food, the wonderful ambiance and personal touch and feel, and the beautiful rooms and pool. We were with our 2 young kids and it was the perfect relaxing end to our busy trip. We were there in what is known as the rainy season, but it barely rained for 10 minutes the whole time we were there, so you don’t have to be put off by the time of year. We would definitely recommend it, and will do to all our friends and family looking to visit the amazing country. We hope to return another time! Thank you to all the brilliant team!

Exceeded our expectations. Have just had one of the best family holidays thanks to Why House. Rooms are comfortable and very well appointed. Facilities and pool are stunning. The food is next level and some of the best see have experienced anywhere in the world. Cannot recommend more highly. We will be back

Just wow! Why House is (we’re still here) and has been the highlight of our 10 nights in Sri Lanka. It’s the last property we have stayed at and remains our favourite. Henrietta and her team run a well oiled machine, the food is first class, the recently refurbished pool a gem and accomodation just outstanding. My birthday occurred whilst we stayed at the property and the team made that special too. The highest praise we can afford anywhere we stay is recommendations to friends plus family and with that in mind Why House is at the top of that list for boutique properties to stay within Sri Lanka, we will be sad to leave Sri Lanka and Why House but also looking forward to return which we hope to very soon. Thanks Why House for a great ending to a fab Sri Lanka trip and a memorable birthday break, you guys rock! PS Letti is adorable

The most beautiful place I’ve stayed in Sri Lanka , after many trips, I’ve found the place that I’ll always stay 🇱🇰 Henrietta is the most extraordinary Hostess, nothing is too much trouble . The food is exquisite, the team will ensure that you’ll want to come back . I certainly will.

I have spent a wonderful week at the Why House, a magical place run by Henrietta 🌟. When you arrive, she will be waiting and you will immediately feel at home. The rooms are incredible and the gardens spectacular. But wait for the food and you will think you are in heaven. Henrietta has trained at The Cordon Blue school! It is so beautiful that you will never want to leave the House and the pool, but there are so many places you should visit. Start with the houses of the Bawa brothers, if you like architecture and landscape gardening. Geoffrey Bawa is the most famous Sri Lankan architect! You should also go to the Udawalawa National Park to see the elephants! And do not forget to take a walk in the beautiful Galle Fort. And finally, take a swim during the night in the magical pool in the lush garden. For sure the best value accommodation I have stayed in!!

Love love love Henrietta’s oops shall I say the WHY HOUSE .. from the moment my husband & I walked in we were welcomed & felt @ home .. thank Gwad after some less than satisfactory places .. this luxury estate was & is a safe haven & most delicious in all ways! Yum food.. amazing pool.. gorgie staff.. rooms immaculate BUT most of all Henrietta is the jewel in the crown 👑 of Sri Lanka!
