Probably fine for a day or two
We didn’t want to stay in a city so chose Ulm for its transport links and proximity to Bavaria for sightseeing.
The Abbate wasn’t a very good choice for us. We stayed for 10 days and the room simply isn’t designed for a stay of that length - storage consisted of one tiny hanging rail and one drawer.
Check in wasn’t great. There is no separate reception and check in is at the bistro downstairs. After a long day travelling sitting around waiting in the bistro for ten minutes wasn’t much fun.
We weren’t impressed by the cleaning. The coffee machine in our room was disgusting and obviously hadn’t been used or cleaned for months. Some days the cleaner took away used cups and glasses, some days not.
Ulm is initially a charming little town but after a few days there is little to do and travel is not as convenient as I had hoped, anywhere of interest is a couple of hours away by train.

Leuke ontdekking in het oude stadscentrum van Ulm, aan de voet van de Kathedraal. Onthaal in de koffiebar. We kregen 2 hele ruime en mooi ingerichte kamers. Zeer goede bedden, met leuke extra’s als een koffiemachine, Dyson ventilator, Klarstein koelkastje. De badkamer was ruim en gerieflijk. Bed- en bedlinnen waren superzacht! Het ontbijt is in de koffiebar, heel lekker en verzorgd!

Wir waren ein Wochenende hier und hatten eine gute Zeit. Das Hotel liegt direkt in der Fussgängerzone, neben dem Münster. Es ist mit dem Auto abfahrbar. Parkhaus in direkter Nähe. Das Zimmer ist sehr gut ausgestattet mit Kühlschrank, Dyson Ventilator und Föhn, Nespresso Kaffeemaschine. Im Haus unten ist ein italienisches Café und Bistro. Dort kann man morgens frühstücken, Cappuccino und Croissant aufs Haus. Wir haben mit Ohropax geschlafen;-).

Stayed overnight in May 2025, 2 adults and 2 children. Check in process was seamless, the staff were helpful and it was easy to check in rather late (after 8PM). The room was modern with complementary chocolates, coffee and toiletries. Bedding was really comfortable. We paid extra to prearrange a cot. The towel heating was great, but we didn’t use any other heating as the room was quite warm - liked that we could let in fresh air and use a fan for circulation too. The Dyson hair dryer was fantastic! There was a lift (helpful for all our bags). Location was central with a lot to walk and see. We thoroughly enjoyed the great coffee downstairs at the cafe. We would’ve happily extended another night here, but they were booked out - can tell why, our stay was wonderful.

Luxurious and chique with lots of heart and soul
Lovely boutique hotel right behind the famous Ulmer Münster. Very chique room with a super nice bathroom!
We had a corner room with huge windows to both sides! To wake up to this view is priceless.
Italian style breakfast in the cafe downstairs is maybe not the typical hotel breakfast expirience some crave, but for us it was perfect to start the day with a croissant and a large coffee.

Wat een bijzondere parel, fantastisch boutique hotel. Niets was de medewerkers teveel, iets te drinken op de kamer, komt eraan. Er zijn 4 fietsen gratis beschikbaar, mooie en knusse kamers. Wij hadden 2 kamers aan de voorzijde met uitzicht op de Ulmer Munster (kerk). Als we weer op familiebezoek zijn gaan we hier zeker weer slapen.

Ein ungewöhnliches Hotel im besten Sinn:
Sehr saubere, hochklassig ausgestattete Zimmer
Sehr hübsches Lokal mit ungewöhnlich guzem Essen (ich h und mein Sohen haben am Abend und in der Früh dort gegessen). Es gibt zwar kein Frühstücksbuffet, aber ganz wunderbare italienische Spezialitäten.
Und als Sahnehäubchen obendrauf ein außergewöhnlich freundliches Team - das war wirkich Klasse!

Tolles, Zentrales Hotel, im Sommer sehr laut
Sehr zentral gelegenes, schönes, sehr wertig eingerichtetes (Loewe TV, Dyson Haartrockner und Ventilator, Designerlampen) Hotelzimmer. Einzig es ist sehr laut, auf dem Markplatz war noch bis weit nach 24:00 Uhr Publikum, und da am Mittwoch Markttag ist, sind ab 4:30 Uhr Anlieferungen für Gastro und Marktbeschicker unterwegs, die man bei offenen Fenster sehr laut hört. Aber wenn man nicht von Di auf Mi dort schläft könnte es besser sein.
