Confusing to check in. Reception is in a different hotel. Would be annoying if you had no car and had to walk distances with luggage. Modern complex. With some eating options and a cinema complex. Short walk to city centre. Very small room. Just a bed, no room for a chair save the small desk chair under the desk. First impression when I opened the door was the overpowering smell of cigarettes. This is a non smoking facility but clearly not enforced. Tobacco stains on curtains and burns on carpets. No waste bin. Despite this, room very clean. Ensuite bathroom of a good size but no hot water! Freezing shower to start my day - at least it woke me up albeit violently. Doors from adjoining room slams loudly and is startling. Reception, in another hotel, closed at checkout so unable to provide feedback on smoke and cold water. Keenly priced - and you do get what you paid for. Better options nearby - and they even have hot water. Lovely cafe for light breakfast across the car park.

Absolutely appalled. We booked our apartment months ago. MONTHS. We booked through Wotif and specifically selected a 3 bedroom apartment with 2 queen beds and 2 single beds. NOWHERE on the booking page or in any fine print did it mention the bedding configuration may be different. The day before arrival I received a text message asking me to confirm my name and my bedding “request”. I immediately replied with my name, and made a point of specifying “Bedding REQUIRED: 2 queen 2 single, this is what we booked”. So let’s jump forward to check-in day. First of all, finding this place is not easy. No signs out front to let you know where to turn in, and if you miss the turn in there’s no easy way to turn around and get back to it. Ended up driving around for 10 minutes just trying to get in there to where we thought it might be. When we finally found the place, check-in was a long process with a staff member who was behaving quite unprofessionally and whilst I wouldn’t go so far as to say they made me feel uncomfortable, I can absolutely see how other guests may feel that way. After all the mucking around we were then hit with a $150 deposit on credit card. Absolutely absurd in this day and age. These ridiculous, out-dated policies are deal breakers for people travelling on a budget, which we are, so you can be sure we will not be coming back here purely based on this alone. (Hot tip for others who feel the same way: Rydges nearby will hold only $1 on your card, and Madison Plaza also very close doesn’t hold anything at all. I’m sure there’s plenty of others around too that aren’t stuck in the dark ages). Moving on. IF ONLY those were the sole issues! No such luck. So, we finally get to the apartment, and wouldn’t you know it, the bedding is wrong. Despite booking months in advance, and clarifying very clearly what bedding was required the day before, they still managed to mess it up. 3 queen beds. We are multi-generational family so obviously cannot share beds. After multiple phone calls to reception requesting a trundle bed, being told that they would normally charge for this (and promptly explaining to them that there is no way in h*** we would be paying due to this being THEIR stuff up!!!) and having the staff member mentioned earlier carrying on like an eccentric character on a soap opera telling us that we’re gonna have to come down and help carry it because it’s way too heavy for them, we told them to forget it. The end result was that our youngest (not SO young at 19 years of age) ended up having to sleep on the couch!!! We made it very clear to them that we would be requesting at least a partial refund, to which they replied “we’ll see what we can do”. Once we finally got past the bedding issue, more and more problems started popping up. Firstly, out of 3 bedrooms in this apartment, two had lamps, and only ONE of those lamps had a light bulb in it. So one working lamp in the entire apartment. Another call to reception only to be told that

The location is very close to the center, at the corner. Although the name is called a motel, in fact, the standard is quite high, especially bedding, star-rated hotel standards. After 7 o'clock, you need to swipe your card to enter

Good location, friendly at reception, clean room and comfortable bed. Just a bit tired regarding the room itself and t.v stations some worked some didn't and they went on and off, but not that big of a deal. A bit noisy around the area but I still slept well.

From previous reviews I thought no way, well how wrong was I. Great location. Clean and large. Amazing staff. Great whistle stop for us. Our four legged mate was very welcomed. Ground floor unit. Even meet a gentleman who travels with his galah on business. Staff welcomed us both with open arms. Pool is fabulous. Price reflects older establishment but they are caring for this old girl. We would definitely stay again. Only downside was the mattresses probably need replacing but are still very comfortable, had a great sleep. Thank you Robert Town 👌👌👌

We stayed here while on a family trip for 5 nights. The lift in the car park wasn’t working the whole time we were there. The apartment was dirty, the couch was covered in stains, the carpet was dirty and needed replacing. All of the surfaces in the apartment were caked in dust. The shower in one of the bathrooms was broken, we reported this and were told someone would be right up to look at it, no one ever came. We needed two single beds in one room and had to call several times to confirm this, on the first call we were told that they didn’t have time to go and check, the second call we were told there was and when we called to confirm the last time we were told there actually wasn’t and that we would need to organise a fold out bed to be brought in by an outside company. There were pubes in the freezer, empty soft drink bottles in the cupboard. No coat hangers to hang up your clothes. No cleaning products in the apartment. We had to ask for dishwashing liquid so we could do our dishes. The shower/bath gel in the bathrooms was so thin that it seemed like someone had just refilled the bottles with water. Don’t waste your money by bothering to stay here.

The staff at Rambutan are very friendly and helpful. I felt very welcome. The rooftop, poolside restaurant is fantastic with its excellent and varied selection of dishes and is so popular with the public that I found it necessary to book my favourite table on the balcony looking over the town. The wonderful staff members speak many languages. Flying up solo from the Victorian winter I was dismayed to find myself in a cramped room, looking onto a blank wall, so dark I needed the light on. I had probably ticked 'accessible' which meant all the rooms reached by the lift which all face the blank wall around the pool. I expressed my disappointment to reception and was immediately and gratefully moved to a room, up a flight of stairs but looking down onto the pool and restaurant, as pictured. The rooms are small, filled up with enormous beds so that there is no way to unpack a suitcase. I needed a comfy chair. Rambutan is well within walking distance of the passenger ferry, The Strand, Anzac Park, and the centre of the city, surrounded by restaurants, and just 2 blocks from all the shops.

LLevi Kreelovely views and a contemporary aesthetic. lots of parking spaces. I enjoy that it's not crowded. The food was good. The Asian staff was polite and made an effort to provide a customer-focused attitude. The majority of the workers are backpackers, so they are not particularly formal—they don't smile or greet others, they just stand and talk—and the place doesn't look like a five-star hotel. There was still hair on the floor and the room was a little dusty . Nothing special, simply an overnight stay.
GGuest UserOur first time at this hotel which offers good value and secure, free underground car parking. Other hotels charge an extra fee to park so we were very content being able to go straight from car park to reception via the lift. Nice clean and comfortable.
GGuest UserReally amazing stay, enjoyed using the facilities (especially the gym! The only thing about the gym is that for the weight section there isn’t any type of mirror to see yourself, but overall was amazing). Also, loved the tv, and being able to look up and listen to our own type of stuff, really cool. Would definitely come here again, no doubt! Thank you Palmer!
Think twice before booking this hotel. The room I stayed in felt dated and despite arriving in summer no fan or airconditioner had been turned on for me. Reception doesn't open until 9am and closes at 5pm. Outside of these hours you need to complete an online form and wait for confirmation which only comes an hour or so before arrival (I had to ring to confirm arrangements as I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to check in). Another online form is required to be completed if check out is needed before 9am. Prior to my stay I enquired about the gym and was told the treadmill was broken. I went to use the gym to discover it wasn't accessible until 9am despite the compendium indicating gym opened from 7am-7pm (even these hours aren't convenient for business travellers). When attempting to leave my floor the lift was held up for quite awhile by trades people arriving and holding it to stack materials, they indicated on the way up they'd be holding it for another 10 minutes before it would return!
Mmitchy_mac90I booked a room with WotIf and something went wrong in the booking process. This was a day before the Pink concert, where accomodation choices were slim, and without a booking, I was facing having to sleep in my car. After calling Rydges direct, trying to find out if I had a room or not, I was blown away by the service from Jack and Hannah on the front desk, who went above and beyond to help. Both were friendly, helpful and solution focussed. They organised a room and helped sort out issues with WotIf. I am eternally grateful to have someone help sort this and couldn’t fault the service. I note, the accommodation is slightly dated, but the room was clean and comfortable, and allowed a good nights rest - what really matters. A massive thanks to Jack and co - keep smiling mate.
GGuest UserI had a wonderful stay at Seagulls Resort in Townsville. The resort is located in a beautiful setting, overlooking the sea and Magnetic Island. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, with all the amenities you need. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is delicious. I enjoyed the two saltwater pools, the tennis court, and the playground for the kids. The resort is also close to many attractions, such as the Strand Beach, Reef HQ Aquarium, and Townsville Mini Golf and Fun Park. I would highly recommend Seagulls Resort to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday in Townsville.
FFreeman SThe location is right on the strand of the beach. The sunset is very beautiful at dusk. It is also very convenient to go to the coffee shop to the supermarket and walk for 10 minutes. Buy all the daily necessities and sit on the terrace to watch the sunset until dusk, which is pleasing to the eyes.
As for the service, there is basically nothing except Check In. It's not like living in a hotel in the Asia-Pacific region, with five-star service
In terms of price, in terms of 1000 heads, it does not include anything. It is really because there is no choice.
CChickababe04Both my daughter and I came from Cairns and were stranded in Townsville during the floods and we stayed at the Vale Hotel for 3 nights. We were on the first floor which was great considering the rising flood waters not far from us. the staff were friendly, accommodating and kept us in the loop regarding what was happening. Having access to the bistro at the hotel was a huge benefit due to roads to supermarkets and food outlets being cut off. We were supplied with clean and dry towels and other linen even though there were problems with the volume of guests and the amount of work the room attendants had to do. The Vale is quiet, safe and very close to Stockland's Shopping Centre, MacDonald's and a range of restaurants and cafes. the Vale Hotel was definitely the right choice under these extreme circumstances and I wish to acknowledge the incredible service, value and security afforded to us and I will make this my #1 choice during future visits to Townsville.
