Hotel Don Juan Tossa

This is a poor hotel which masquerades as a good one in the pictures - the massive lobby and 4 star label are deceiving, I don't know how they ever earned that rating with their awful service. Pros (ish): - Entertainment team (Animacion) were excellent and really made an effort with guests, even though the overall offer was poor. There are no activities at all most of the day, apart from pool stretches in the morning, and the evening entertainment was a bit like what a teacher might do on the last week of school before summer with just a few youtube videos. That being said, their enthusiasm and effort made it feel better than it was. - Buffet does change each day, though it is extremely hard to determine what you can and can't eat if you have any dietary restrictions. Most the food is not labelled, no allergens included, and the kitchen staff weren't always able to help. You also cannot even get water with your meal without paying unless you pay for all inclusive, and they'll take your glass away as soon as they can so it's not easy to bring your own. - Rooms were not too loud at night, largely soundproof. - Beach is a less than 5mins walk away. - WiFi worked well with good coverage. Cons: - Rooms are small and not well stocked, no kettle, no complimentary water when you arrive despite the promise of some. You'll be lucky to even get enough towels and blankets for each guest in your room to have one, and the staff will not give you extra. We literally resorted to hiding one to have a towel for each person. - Staff are actively unhelpful - if you ask for ANYTHING the answer is no. It's as if they don't want you there after you've paid, and the limited things they can give you come at a surcharge. You will not get a response if you contact the hotel prior to your stay, if you ask for information about the area or amenities you will not receive it. We asked about dietary requirements and were told there are 600 guests so they can't help us. - You are told off constantly, we were told off for how we sat on the chairs in the lobby, we were told off for drinking water during the entertainment, told off for trying to sit with the rest of our group in the buffet restaurant. You can't even choose where you sit despite it being a buffet, you are assigned a table and they do not care if you need more than one, they're happy to put you on opposite ends and insist you cannot move. - Pool is far too small for the size of the hotel and has a depth of 2.2m for most of it, forcing all families with young children to stay in one quarter of the space. The staff often had an issue with you bringing a hotel towel up even if it was just to dry yourself off afterwards. There aren't enough loungers, or umbrellas for shade and the staff will dismiss you if you dare to even ask if they have any. - Meal times are not appropriate for children if you go half board. Breakfast was 7:30-10:30am which was fine, but dinner is 7:45pm onwards, and sometimes there was a queue,
