Having used this hotel successfully in the past for dancing group events we booked a 3 day event in 2024 for May 2025 and this time we were very disappointed. We were let down on several issues due to poor organizational and poor communication. We could not have all the rooms we were promised and needed meaning some of our group had to make other accommodation arrangements. A new charging parking system was installed after our initial booking but we were not advised about this. The hotel put a systemin place so our group did not have to pay but some of our group received fines that took some time to sort out. Whilst the food remains excellent at this hotel other standards have dropped, the drinks are very very expensive and yet there is little reinvestment in the hotel the ballroom is in urgent need of refurbishment and corridors and the ballroom are cluttered with old furniture and carpets. The hotel is living on past glories and taking loyal support for granted.

Bedroom beside noisy railway line. Hot water in bathroom taking 10-15 mins to come thru. Not the cleanest hotel. Saw a used cloth napkin at breakfast being shook and refolded for next guest. Food average. Generally not impressed.

Excellent, Tim & his crew have managed to incorporate the "olde worlde" charm of this hotel with the experience and service you would expect today. Staff were very good if a little thin on the ground at times, a common problem throughout the industry I am sure

This hotel was well suited for our 1920s Christmas themed wedding on the 6th December 2024; thanks to its old fashioned charm. The hotel was beautiful and well decorated for Christmas, up there with the best we’ve ever seen. Many thanks to Piers and his team for giving us the wedding we hoped for; from start to finish, everything was wonderful. Xx

A very dated hotel In need of a complete refurb. Bar prices are akin to central London cocktail bars except here it’s mediocre quality and uncomfortable surroundings. The view is nice if you can put up with the rest of the issues. I have also seen cleaner pavements.

I visited the hotel today Sunday 15th June 2025, to attend the Antiques Fair & decided to have lunch in the lounge, ( which I have done in the past and enjoyed). I am not normally one to complain, but the servic was terrible. The barman's manner was curt & unfriendly & bordering on being rude. But my main complaint was with the food. I ordered a beef & horseradish sandwich, which turned out to be mostly gristle. I was very disappointed & will not be eating here again. At over £9.00 for the sandwich, I feel this is poor value. My transaction number was 108276.

Ein wundervolles Hotel aus der alten Zeit. Natürlich ist die Ausstattung etwas in die Jahre gekommen aber alleine das Dinner ist eine tolle Erfahrung, toller Service im alten Stil. Danach geht es in die Bar zum Kaffee. Das Dinner hatte live pianobegleitung und in der Bar eine Sängerin. Wunderschöner alter Aufzug .es war wie eine Zeitreise. Der Besitzer ist sehr nett

We went to the restaurant for a family celebration. We were the only people in the restaurant when we arrived, nevertheless they had already run out of items and only had single portions left of standards such as steak. The service was disappointing with the head waiter having to come back more than once to take the order again. On the plus side the desserts were really good.
