Great hotel, the room was lovely & so was the pool area! We went on the weekend at the start of half term so there was a lot of family’s there & children. I heard the week is better if you don’t want lots of children around but for us this wasn’t an issue. The hotel is very big & there is lots around. It is also in a great location close to the beach, parks & walking distance from the town. We really enjoyed our stay here :)

A decent hotel, quick check in, pleasant staff. The indoor pool is very good, plenty of room. Quite noisy at night if your room is on the main road, traffic and people.

One night at this old hotel but pleasantly surprised. Rooms nice and clean (but a maze to find your room) staff very friendly the food was delicious and plentiful. We only stayed the night on route to Spain butt would definitely stay again. I had seafood linguine and it was the best I’d had apart from a 1st class restaurant in the West End

Stayed for 1 night, I expected more for the price if im honest. The room - very very dated, clean but very old and dated. Then the corridors are desperate for a lick of paint and new carpets. The lift i refused to used it looked that old. When we entered the room had an awful smell, my daughter refused to come in, we had to open the windows, put the fan on and leave the door open to air it. Bathroom was ok for 1 night anyway. Beds id read awful reviews however ours were ok and we slept ok too. We did use the outdoor pool and omg it was freezing can't comment on anythink else such as food ect as we eat out. Parking you have to pay for £10 for 24 hours and they then let you pay for longer when you check out. Location is good, about a 15 min walk to the seafront ans harbour. I've looked to stay again for the same time next year but for 2 nights and its quoting me £464 never in a million years. I would return but only for 1 night and for a price that reflects the stay

I've stayed at this hotel many many times with my family both at Summer and Easter. I've just returned home from my latest Easter stay and I have to say that both myself and my wife were quite disappointed with the room that we were allocated. It was very very small for a double room. We stayed for four nights and we felt that we couldn't move without falling over each other. Both of us didn't sleep very well due to a rock hard mattress. The curtains were ripped and very old and the blinking of the lights in the fire alarm lit up the room every few seconds. There was also a bright blue light on an electrical panel on the wall which I had to hang an item of clothing over to try and darken the room to beable to sleep. Overall this is a great family hotel but the rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment. The aztec pool area is great, the entertainment team do a great job and the food is nice. We will continue to return but it would be great to see the rooms modernised

Hotel is ok but tired in many places. Parking is now run by parking eye and you have 30 mins to register you car. Food is rather bland and you only get your starter served and you go get your main and dessert choice is ok and brekfast is same each day and lacks choice. Room we were in was 170 family (for 2 of us ) room with small lumpy double 1 single and then bunk beds with the bathroom had been fitted about a year ago. The entertainment was as bad as it gets and really poor and they dropped the afternoon tea and waiter services. Drinks were lacking choice sharps cider sharps bitter made lager and carling all on draught. Outdoor pools were not open until the end of may we were told as they were still getting them ready for the summer season. The Aztec games room is really bad the pool tables all need refitting as does the snooker tables ad cushions gone no baize torn or worn out. The hotel in general is ok but expensive for what you get. We were them from Friday to Monday and that was more than enough and standards have certainly gone down hill we have been going there for over 20 years but won’t be rushing back!!

As many other reviewers have pointed out, the only thing that lets this hotel down is the old, rock hard mattresses where the springs go “boing” as you lie down. It’s a 4 star resort with 2 star bedrooms. I understand it’s going through a refurb so hopefully those mattresses will be burned soon. Kylie Tribute was good fun. Pool was lovely. Staff were great. Decent drinks prices.

We have stayed at the derwent many times, and we have always had a great time. This time, almost the whole family went, including my 80 year old mother in law, and our 1 year old granddaughter as well as the wife ,3 grown up children and my son in law and we all had a lovely stay, the entertainment was great and as always the breakfast were very good, all the staff were helpful and courteous and very professional, thanks again.

Staff are really lovely, just needs a good spruce up. I don’t mean not clean, it was really clean but dated
