This is our 3rd visit to CocoReef. There have been many upgrades . The breakfast buffet is def the best in Trinidad/Tobago. The selection and taste excellent. The grounds were beautiful and the pool area awesome. What hasn’t changed was the lack of towels not only in our room but also beach towels. We had 2 bath towels and one hand towel for 2 and a half days. No matter who we asked no towels arrived finally we talked to a manager and received 2 bath towels on our last day. The laundry staff appeared annoyed at our frequent request for towels. The 2nd day towards the end of the day we received one tattered towel for us both to use for the beach and pool. Thank goodness we brought a few towels of our own. Of all the upgrades why not buy more towels we don’t get it! There couldn’t be more than 30 guests at any time during our stay. The other thing this was our 3rd visit and not one staff welcomed us back. Everyone was friendly enough although appeared helpless about the lack of towels and how to solve the problem.

This was my 4th visit to Coco Reef, having stayed there as far back as 2014. Unfortunately, this will also be my last. I booked directly through their reservations email, being very specific with my requests and only confirming after they agreed in writing. We were arriving in Tobago at 6:10 a.m., so I asked about early check-in. I was told it was available at an extra cost of TT$600, which I agreed to and paid 50% down to secure. Important for future visitors: early check-in does not include breakfast. That’s an additional TT$250 per person – which feels unreasonable considering the steep early check-in fee. I booked a 2-bed room with early check-in confirmed for 6:30 a.m. On arrival, a male attendant quickly pulled up my file, had me sign, and collected the balance plus the TT$600 fee. Then he casually informed me I had two options: Early check-in, but into a 1-bed room, OR Wait until 3 p.m. for the 2-bed room. After making arrangements in advance and paying extra, this was extremely frustrating. I told him plainly that the only acceptable option was the one I had already paid for. He disappeared to “speak with a supervisor,” returned, and said that I could check in early with the 1-bed room and then switch at 3 p.m. Tired from travel, we reluctantly accepted, since we really did need the 2 beds room at night. At 1:25 p.m., before heading out for lunch, I called the front desk to check if our proper room was ready. Another attendant said he would speak with the supervisor and call me back. After waiting 20 minutes with no call back, we left and stopped at the desk on our way out, only to be told with no apology that “it’s not ready.” We returned at 3:07 p.m. and were told again the room wasn’t ready because the supervisor was still checking rooms. When I asked if we should wait in the temporary room, they agreed, but when we went back, the key card was already deactivated. I had to return to the front desk, where I was met with visible annoyance and attitude from the attendant. We finally got into the new 2-beds room at 3:45 p.m. – almost an hour later than the contractual check in time of 3:00 p.m. – with no apology, no explanation, and no compensation. To make matters worse, the floors were still wet from being mopped. Another key issue: I had specifically requested working Wi-Fi, as I needed to get some work done during my stay. In Room 120, the Wi-Fi connection was extremely poor, making it practically unusable. For a resort at this price point, reliable internet should be standard. For TT$1,650 per night, this experience was extremely disappointing. The accommodations felt outdated, the amenities are not worth the cost, and the customer service was frankly awful. I will not return, and I cannot recommend Coco Reef to anyone. There are other hotels and villas in Tobago that offer more comfort, modern facilities, and respectful service for the same or lower price.

I booked for their basic accommodation: garden view room with breakfast and added dinner meal plan to my booking. Exactly as you see this place online in pictures and videos, same in person. Clean, serene, quiet (loved this part), accommodating. Very helpful staff. I stayed on the ground floor. Between their pool and the beach very short walk. Shower available to wash off sand on whole body or a low tap to wash feet only. Beautiful sunsets, photo shoot opportunities every evening. Each evening, dinner was most enjoyed. The chef did a great job. A menu was given to choose what I wanted.

We stayed at Coco Reef Resort in May 2025. While the location is beautiful and the resort has a lot of potential, our overall experience was disappointing due to the condition of the property. The furnishings and appliances were old. Water pressure was low. The walls in our room were dirty, and we noticed ants on the floor upon entry of our room. The television had poor signal, and several channels didn’t display at all. During breakfast, birds frequently landed on tables and food trays, which was concerning. On a positive note, the staff was pleasant and attended to our requests in a timely manner. They did what they could within the limits of the facility.

Coco Reef Resort welcoming atmosphere and a breath of fresh air when coming to the staff and customer care. The facility is a bit dated and amenities are sparse but the staff, food, ambiance, and location is definitely among the very best that I’ve experienced. Jenile, Mr. Smart and Mr. Livingston were among the few names that I can recall that made it an amazing experience and definitely planning on returning in the near future. Note to management: updating the facilities is definitely worth the money. Excellent location right on the beach, next to store bay where you can board the party boat to the lovely Nylon pool an experience you will not want to miss. Overall, great experience and highly recommended.

An interesting visit all round. The hotel is wonderfully `dated`, in, dare I say, neo-colonial style, but really could benefit with the addition of a simple luggage lift; I nearly gave myself a hernia dragging a case up that flight of stairs. No complaints at all about the rooms. Your staff are wonderfully friendly and attentive..especially three I managed to catch names..* Onecia, Patrice and Simon; please pass on my best wishes to them all. Just one drawback, I have already sent two E-mails to you, but no response; no matter.. Oh yes, finally, that old car in the front, ask its owner can take it off his hands, providing he provides me with the means to bring it over here.. *I include everybody from Reception, Security and other duties.

Great location and private beach just minutes from the airport made this hotel super convenient. The rooms are a bit outdated and could use some refreshing, but they were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with a good variety, and the front desk staff went above and beyond—very friendly and helpful. Overall, the staff were great and made the stay enjoyable. With a few updates, this place could be a real gem.
