Hundred House Hotel

We went for a Sunday lunch on July 20th 2025. using our received Food gift Voucher. I ordered: A Goat's cheese Souffle starter, this had an interesting mixture of textures and flavours. For mains: I had: ' The Fish Pie Chowder.' Lots of good varieties of Fish, salmon, smoked Haddock & Coley and ONE prawn! However, the sauce, although a good flavour! was a Chowder soup-like texture ( ie: more a drippy/liquid, than a proper sauce ! The mash potato, therefore, was too mushy & lacked texture/ flavour. The cheese topping , thinly crisp.(Dijon mustard might have enhanced both the flavour and texture?!) My husband had the Silver Side, nicely sliced, Beef steak, which melted in the mouth, & was simply, delicious! /Veggies: - glazed ? steamed? carrots were soft but most flavoursome, the slim Green beans were almost inedible/ due to being well under-cooked/ hard , almost in-edible due to the disappointing texture! Good to encourage creativity in the Kitchen, however, textures and flavours need careful tasting and Supervision, BEFORE being served ?! Sadly, a disappointing Sunday Lunch gift of a voucher, from my son. N,B. !! SAFETY! The left end settings and chairs, on the long Wedding Anniversary Table , were really dangerous to navigate, and looked, therefore most hazardous, for younger family Guests to navigate, by tripping &/or indeed, falling...due to the raised, arranged display, with its DANGEROUSLY curved, step-edge, which was patiently navigated! , by a young Couple with a toddler with a young Baby (plus, a high chair's equipment and also by other older people, in this party! This is both far too dangerous and totally unacceptable; on the grounds of 'Health and Safety' Regulations. Management should have supervised and assessed, this event's situation and this long table's hazards.. The Staff were absolutely superb-and most attentive. We send an appreciative "Thank you!" to each of them, during this busy Sunday Lunch time. Mr & Mrs Lyons.

I took my mom for an afternoon tea and garden tour for her birthday. The afternoon tea was lovely, great value for money. The staff were so attentive and friendly. The building itself is gorgous. Definitely worth a visit and highly recommend. Thank you 😊

We’d forgotten how good the food was here, probably have not been for 12 or 18 months, however the welcome was warm, staff friendly as usual and the food was excellent. We had smoked shin and grilled asparagus to start, followed by venison pie and duck breast. My wife’s duck breast was exceptionally tasty and my pie was fabulous. Crème brûlée and roulade to finish, a great all round meal.

Fantastic night out for food to celebrate my birthday. Great location but parking can get v busy. Tasty pint of Belhaven stout, recommended. Had the pie which was exception as were the blades of beef. Roulade to finish with coffee. Totally recommend the place.

Really lovely hotel. Staff very friendly. Food was excellent. Room we had was quirky but nice. Would recommend

I want to say a huge thank you Gemma and Jaydene for always being available to help with wedding questions, not only to us as the couple but to family and friends who were staying at the venue. As the bride I felt no pressures, or stresses as everything was just taken care of. All of the team were friendly, helpful and kind. A big shoutout to Mike and his colleague on the evening who were always helpful and approachable, they ensured all of our things were taken care of and organised for collection the next morning. All of the rooms were just beautiful and we were fortunate to stay for two nights! The food! Well! Wow! Just amazing. The most beautiful hospitable wedding venue, that made us all feel at home! We could not of wanted or wished for more. Thank you so so much! What a team! xx
