Note: 2 minus. Aber zu berücksichtigen ist der günstige Preis! Wir haben eine Rundreise durch Schottland unternommen und teils für einfache B&B genauso viel oder mehr gezahlt. Das Hotel hat enormes Potenzial, was leider zum Teil ungenutzt ist. Der Hotelbereich wirkt leicht unterkommen, Gänge teils schmuddelig. Unser Zimmer im Erdgeschoss zweckmäßig mit kleinem Außenbereich. Sauber, bequemes Bett. Die Reinigung erfolgt nur auf Wunsch (einfach ein Schild an die Tür, das ist in Ordnung.) Leider wurde dann nur das Bett gemacht und das Bad hergerichtet- auch frische Handtücher- nicht jedoch der Teppich gesaugt. Das Bad ist zweckmäßig. Das Haus ist sehr sehr hellhörig, was schon Beeinträchtigung mit sich bringt. Andererseits ist der Barbereich, Pub ansprechend und gemütlich und die Außenterrasse mit Blick auf die schöne Natur großartig- nur müsste letztere mehr gepflegt werden. Das Essen und auch das Frühstück ( je nach Auslastung als kleines Buffet oder nach Karte) in Ordnung. Gute Getränkeauswahl an der Bar,Service einwandfrei. In Summe ein ambivalenter Eindruck, für einen kurzen Aufenthalt über 2 oder 3 Tage in Ordnung. Und die Lage macht vieles wett. Der Spaziergang durch den Garten zum Fluss und dann dort entlang ist wunderschön. Rehe und Hirsche von der Terrasse und vom Frühstücksraum beobachtet.

Hotel cancelled group booking with a little over a months notice. People having to cancel flights etc from around the world and as far away as Canada. No real reason given and despite vague promises to find alternative accommodation nothing forthcoming. Extremely disappointed

I cannot rate Brander Lodge highly enough . It is in an excellent location for exploring. The hotel is immaculate and the food is absolutely delicious try the Scottish nachos starter delicious compliments to the chef . Breakfast was cooked fresh with a great variety and quality of products . Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much bother . The room was spotless we got a upgrade thanks David , to be honest there was nothing to fault . It was a wonderful stay and the views from the dining room were lovely . I would just like to say however , on coming on to post this review I was surprised at some of the negative reviews and found myself wondering was it the same place they were talking about . If you are reading these reviews please , please do not be put off it is a wonderful wee tranquil haven with the best of Scottish hospitality from David and I will most definitely be returning in future. Thankyou for a wonderful stay

Hotel was very good. Lovely clean modern room with super comfy bed. Staff were all excellent, friendly and helpful. The hotel is in beautiful scenery and I'm sure it is lovely to sit on the terrace outside restaurant and bar in the summer. Food was very good too.

My room was a little tired and in need of some repairs, but it wasn’t expensive and it was clean and comfortable. Evening meal and breakfast both very good. I’d be happy to go back when the repairs have been completed.

Our room was small but well appointed. It was comfortable, clean and we rested well. We had dinner out back with a propane heater on and a wonderful relaxing view. The food was good. The drinks were good. The staff were very friendly. While we were waiting for dinner we went for a quick walk down to the river. Very pretty. The location is beautiful, out in nature not a bustling city street. Great place to unwind. We had a lovely fresh breakfast before we made our way to experience more adventures. We would stay again!

Needs attention
Place is run down and lifeless.
Windows are in a bad shape and bins full in view of windows.
There was a hairball on the carpet so not cleaned properly.

Terrible food
The staff were nice enough but there were only 4 main meal options.
The food that we had was terrible the smoked salmon starter had two tiny pieces of salmon barely enough for one of the three oatcakes that came with it !
The main meal I had was Steak pie it had greasy watery gravy and tasteless meat covered in gristle
My colleague had mince and mash which was also tasteless and when he asked for a sachet of brown sauce to try to put a bit of taste into it was told there was none
I would not recommend anyone eat there until the food improves drastically

Don’t go there !
The whole hotel needed more management. Public areas were dirty and uncared for. One morning at breakfast a tablecloth on the coffee table had the same very large stain of coffee from the previous morning (covering a huge percentage of the table). The same morning the coffee tasted stale as if just reheated from previous morning.
The food we had was adequate but no more. The room was clean and the en-suite. However, the security was terrible with outdoor doors left ajar overnight and no management in the hotel at all. Guests were left to their own devices from about 22:00 to 09:00. The cook was obviously in attendance for dinner and breakfast and also junior staff (the junior staff were excellent but undertrained). Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
