The Corner House Hotel

Very nice

Friendly and welcoming place from the moment you arrive at this original looking hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable, perfect for an overnight stay. There’s a good bar and restaurant area, and I can vouch for a very nice breakfast. Well located for the centre of town. Would recommend if you are in the Taunton area.

We organise a short break for our ramblers group - this time we opted to go to Taunton. The manager at the Corner House Hotel couldn't have been more helpful with accommodating all our needs, making the stay easy to organise. Once we all arrived the staff were lovely and helpful, and always with a smile on their faces. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was exceptional. Absolutely nothing but praise for them all.

Good location for town centre and friendly staff. Onsite parking for £5 a day which is very reasonable. Unfortunately the bed we had was a small double and mattress definitely needs replacing. It was lumpy and uncomfortable. Not much sleep which is why I'd call it average.

We stayed for two nights in room no.1. the hotel was easy to find but be careful of the traffic as you enter the narrow side entrance. The private car park is £5/night...I don't like having to pay when I am a guest but maybe it keeps prices down. Large cars beware of the exit...very tight and evidence of many scrapes. Speak to Reception who may have an alternative exit. But the welcome was warm and friendly, our room clean and bright with the usual facilities. The staff really did treat all the guests we saw in a friendly and cheerful manner. We had dinner and the food, service and wine were very good. Breakfast was also of a high standard. Situated close to the town centre the hotel is ideally placed and priced. We would definitely stay there again and have no hesitation in recommending it.

Overcharged … Check the prices when you visit this place as the two young girls on the bar are totally clueless and not focused on the job despite an empty bar. Not even an apology… desperately need Staff training and the lack of social skills is more than apparent.

We drove to Taunton after a 2 night stay in Weston-super-Mare to stay at the Corner House Hotel. On entering the hotel grounds there is a very narrow entrance through to the car park at the back of the hotel. As I had a 4×4 car it was a very tight squeeze and my wife guided me through the gap successfully. So, just be aware that it you have a big car this entrance is small. To their credit the Hotel does advise of the width restriction for cars on their website. We arrived earlier than our scheduled check-in time (3pm) but was advised that our room was ready if we wanted an early check in which we opted for at a cost of £10. We also booked a late checkout which was also an additional £10. After checking in, we were given the breakfast menu, which had a great selection on it. We went to our room on the 2nd floor and were pleased to find this modern with a lovely king size bed. The room was quite spacious and had iron/ironing board, hair dryer and tea/coffee making available plus a small fridge. The bathroom was well equipped. We had dinner booked in the evening and were very pleased with the choice. The food we chose was excellent quality and based on that we booked for the following evening aswell. Breakfast was a definite plus aswell with a good selection of cereals, yoghurts, juices, croissants and pan au chocolate plus toast. Our hot breakfast selection was also excellent (eggs benedict and eggs florentine). Our 2nd day breakfast and evening meal was again superb and on both days the staff, who were all very pleasant, friendly & helpful, helped make this whole experience even more enjoyable. It was a shame we had to leave, but I'd give this hotel a 10/10, and if I was in the Taunton area again I'd certainly try and book the Corner House Hotel.

Very good hotel in Taunton, within 10 minute walk to town centre. Staff were friendly and welcoming, particularly the girl at breakfast, who was very cheerful first thing! Some areas of the hotel are a bit tired, and our bathroom was miniscule, but we had a good nights sleep and not much to complain about overall. The breakfast was of a very high standard; beautifully cooked and presented, with high quality ingredients. There was also a really good selection of pastries, cereals, toast, fresh fruit etc. Make sure you book direct with the hotel to get the breakfast for free - don't use a third party site.
