Grand Hotel Villa de France

Putting aside the fact that it is a 5-star hotel, and just looking at the price, I will say that this is a perfect place, right in the centre, to get to know and enjoy Tangier. The certain degree of decadence, although subtle, rather than diminishing, increases the perception of a very relaxed atmosphere and, together with the friendly disposition of all the employees, a stay in this hotel becomes a very pleasant experience.

The hotel is close to the beach and has unique architecture. The room is clean and tidy, the hygiene is good, and the breakfast is good.

The hotel is well-equipped, the service attitude is good, the environment is also very good, the breakfast is very rich, the decoration is full of southern French atmosphere, but the facilities are relatively old. It is very close to the beach.

If you take the tourist bus in Tangier, you will find that this hotel itself is a check-in attraction. In terms of its historical value, it is worth the room price. The hotel has a good view, good hygiene, and a very good breakfast. This must be praised. One thing is really the worst and unsolvable thing in our African trip. We stayed here for two nights. On the second night, we exchanged 100 US dollars for local currency at the front desk. 100 US dollars is about 900+ Moroccan dinamics. A female clerk helped us change it. During the period, another male in uniform was there all the time. After she gave it to us, she left immediately to greet the new guests, and my husband did not put it away after he got it. He counted it immediately and counted it twice, which was more than 700 dirhams. So we asked the male clerk who was empty all the time, and he became nervous and asked the female clerk immediately. She acted incredulous and denied that she could have counted wrongly. She flipped the cash on the counter and said that there was one bill left in the stack, so we must have been given nine bills (this logic is amazing). I pointed to the surveillance camera above my head and told her: "We didn't turn around the whole time. You can check the surveillance. If you have any questions, it's your mistake at work. Ask yourself why you ask us?!" The male clerk tried to calm me down. I knew he had done nothing wrong, so I stopped talking and left. We left Tangier the next day. By the way, lady, if you can see this review on any platform, I want to tell you that among the remaining money on the counter, one stack was 8 bills and the other was 9 bills. If you are not stealing from the company, your ability to count is indeed worrying.

The scenery is nice, the breakfast is average, the facilities are very old, the cabinet doors are falling off, the shower head can't be hung...but it feels good to sit outside and drink coffee while looking at the bay.

This hotel is located on the hill of Tangier. It advertises itself as a five-star hotel, but it felt more like a four-star hotel during my stay, so don't expect too much. The view is great because it's on high ground, but no matter where you go you have to climb a hill on the way back, and even after entering the hotel grounds you still have to climb stairs. The building has a certain charm, but due to extensions and the terrain there are stairs everywhere and it is not barrier-free, so it is recommended for people who are confident in their physical strength. The staff were generally friendly, and the breakfast had a decent variety and was good.
