I was planning to visit Taiyuan during the Spring Festival. After much selection and looking at many hotels, I finally chose the Merliho Hotel based on factors such as location, price, and guest reviews. I have stayed at Merliho hotels in many cities before and had a good impression of them. In addition, this hotel just opened last year, so its facilities must be very new. There is Wanda Plaza nearby, which makes eating and shopping very convenient. The hotel has its own simple parking lot next to it. Maybe there were too many guests checking in that night and the electricity overvoltage caused a power outage at 11:20 pm. The power supply was restored at 24 am. Fortunately, it was in the early morning, so nothing was delayed. When I checked out the next day, the front desk gave me a small gift to express my apology. Overall, the price/performance ratio is good, recommended!

Good location, if you're in a room away from the noisy streets. Updated design, so some effort has gone in there. Staff is functional and perfunctory; things get done. Not the most efficient, not the most welcoming. In fact, the worst i have encountered on this trip, but not terrible. Reminds me of some inns I have stayed in in rural China. The one thing that makes this an absolute no-no is that despite the price I am paying, there is no air-conditioning. It is a central air-con system and they have deemed it is not warm enough to turn it on. Which makes the room a stuffy furnace. Advice was to turn on air purifier which is noisy through the whole night and doesn't really help. If I'm paying for a room, at least let me decide the room ventilation. If they want to sell to foreign guests, they should know this is a basic given as this is what we have come to expect in our hotel rooms. So, strongly advice: NO! As they say in social media: 别来踩这个坑！

The 306 guestrooms are arranged with up-to-date facilities and are comfortable and clean.The hotel boasts a large conference hall, which can hold up to 500 people. There is also a business center, a shopping arcade, a beauty salon, a billiards room and a dancing hall.The hotel restaurants provide good Shanxi local specialties, western food, Huaiyang and Guangdong cuisine. The Nanyuan cafeteria with a capacity of 500 people is suitable for banquet and cocktail parties.

The room hardware can reach five stars. The facilities in the room and lobby are very new and the design is modern and simple. The sanitation is very good, and the cleaning on the day of check-in and in between is very good. The breakfast is not five-star and lacks richness, especially for children, there is not enough to eat. The buffet restaurant is not open before the 15th day of the first ***** month, and there are no good restaurants around the hotel, so the dining aspect is a bit lacking. However, the dishes served in the Chinese restaurant are up to the standards of a luxury hotel and taste very good. The room TV cannot be connected to the screen. The water temperature and pressure in the bathroom are very stable, which is great for a hotel located on a 15-story building. The toilet room is completely independent and not separated by glass. There is a sink outside the shower room and also in the toilet room, making it very convenient for families to stay in.

We stayed at the hotel for one night, while going from Pingyao to Zhangjiajie. We arrived at the train station in the evening, and had to take the train the following morning. The hotel offers pickup and drop-off which was very convenient and comfortable. The room was clean and tidy, with snacks, tea and all the furnitures we could need. The staff was SO helpful: they ordered some food for us (everything on the app was in mandarin and we couldn't understand how to do it ourselves), recommended some local favorites, and delivered it to our room. They also helped us do laundry even though it was late in the evening, so we had clean clothes to continue our trip. All in all, our stay was excellent, and I couldn't recommend the hotel more.
