The smart room features throughout are quite impressive, and food deliveries are brought directly to the room by a robot. Service: The service was exceptionally attentive. On the first day, we needed an extra bed, and the housekeeping manager went above and beyond, checking various room sizes to find the best arrangement. We stayed for four nights. One day, I washed clothes and left them hanging in the bathroom to drip dry. When we returned, the housekeeper had thoughtfully left a note and moved them out to dry properly – such attention to detail! Later in our stay, we were driving a local friend's car and returned very late one night. The parking attendant, even past 1 AM, patiently helped open the garage door without any sign of impatience. Environment: The hotel breakfast was quite good, especially the knife-cut noodles (Dao Xiao Mian), which were particularly delicious! 😋

This trip to the city feels like a glimpse into my roots. 😀 Before leaving, I spent a lot of time researching hotels in Taiyuan on Ctrip and finally chose the Home Inn. The hotel is located near Liuxiang Bell Tower Street. Downstairs, there's plenty of shopping and dining options, but upstairs, it's very quiet. Newly renovated, with new amenities, it's clean and tidy. The smart features throughout the hotel are user-friendly. The friendly and polite staff at the front desk on the first floor were especially nice. I drove there and could park directly in the Home Inn underground parking lot across the street. It's very close, making it very convenient for self-driving. After staying there for one night, my partner and I fell in love with the pillows in the room. They were so soft and comfortable that we bought two at the front desk when we checked out and took them home. It was a pleasant surprise. 😀

Good location, if you're in a room away from the noisy streets. Updated design, so some effort has gone in there. Staff is functional and perfunctory; things get done. Not the most efficient, not the most welcoming. In fact, the worst i have encountered on this trip, but not terrible. Reminds me of some inns I have stayed in in rural China. The one thing that makes this an absolute no-no is that despite the price I am paying, there is no air-conditioning. It is a central air-con system and they have deemed it is not warm enough to turn it on. Which makes the room a stuffy furnace. Advice was to turn on air purifier which is noisy through the whole night and doesn't really help. If I'm paying for a room, at least let me decide the room ventilation. If they want to sell to foreign guests, they should know this is a basic given as this is what we have come to expect in our hotel rooms. So, strongly advice: NO! As they say in social media: 别来踩这个坑！

I booked a suite at Shanxi Hotel. Oh boy, what a stay!!! The hotel looks like a courtyard. The receptionist and the bellboy were all very cordial. They carried my luggage to the room for free. Our room was in another building so they advised us we could check out without coming back to the reception desk again. Just leave the keys in the room. The room was quite spacious with lots of amenities. I am very surprised they offer in-room laundry detergent and electric cloth dryer for hanging clothes. They consider every aspect of my stay and I would give them 5 out of 5 stars.

The room hardware can reach five stars. The facilities in the room and lobby are very new and the design is modern and simple. The sanitation is very good, and the cleaning on the day of check-in and in between is very good. The breakfast is not five-star and lacks richness, especially for children, there is not enough to eat. The buffet restaurant is not open before the 15th day of the first ***** month, and there are no good restaurants around the hotel, so the dining aspect is a bit lacking. However, the dishes served in the Chinese restaurant are up to the standards of a luxury hotel and taste very good. The room TV cannot be connected to the screen. The water temperature and pressure in the bathroom are very stable, which is great for a hotel located on a 15-story building. The toilet room is completely independent and not separated by glass. There is a sink outside the shower room and also in the toilet room, making it very convenient for families to stay in.

Great location and they were all super nice. However the room was super hot and there is no AC. When we asked they brought up a portable unit but it wasn’t nearly enough to keep the room comfortable. If it’s winter it could be a great spot but definitely look elsewhere in the late spring and summer.
