I ended up not staying at Zanzi House. The place was absolutely disgusting. Poorly maintained and had an odor. The linen in the room had stains on it. There was a bathroom sink and toilet meters away from my door. Dirt was everywhere and garbage just randomly thrown on the property. The room was not as pictured online. I had to leave immediately I checked in. I could not even do a night there. I had the constant urge to throw up for the 1 hr that I was there.

Simple hotel! Kettle available! Shower is warm too! Breakfast modest! But okay for my two days in Stone Town!

Very beautiful traditional building, including the room. Tea and coffee, but no water to make them... Nice breakfast and very calm atmosphere. On the other hand, my passport was torn during the photocopying and she tried to put it back in her wallet instead of giving it to me in person, hoping I wouldn't see anything. A passport to be redone upon returning... compensation from trip.com: 5 euros! 😤

We had a perfect stay, was ok clean with good breakfast. I found their dollar rates ridiculous since i wanted to pay city tax in tsh and not in dollars😒 i felt robbed.

The hotel is in Xiaoxiangzi, it's very lively outside, about 8 minutes walk to the beach, the room is ok, no hair dryer is provided, the stairs are very steep, it's hard to carry luggage up.
