Room, Balcony, View from the room and Restaurant is really nice. But only one thing they need to improve in their reception customer service.
Room I signed when I check in and Room I really received was different. They changed the room without notice. I asked why they said it's same room inside. But it was totally different. Changed room has no privacy at all. We have to close the window during the stay.
And I asked for late check out when I check in. They told me to check last day in the morning. In last day, I asked again for 2hrs late check out. They refused my request even didn't check the system. Just say NO. I am very disappointed with their attitude. And when I checked the site there were plenty room left.
As everyone knows Zanzibar is the holiday place. Most of 5 star hotels in holiday place, they run check out time very flexible due to flight time. No deserve to have 5 stars in customer service.

This hotel appears to be old-fashioned and classic, yet it comes with all the modern conveniences—air conditioning, a minibar, and an elevator. It’s a bit unusual that the room features a bathtub rather than a shower. The hotel is located by the beach in the heart of Stone Town; it’s very charming and exudes an Arab-Indian allure, making you feel as if you’re in a truly exotic place. There’s a large garden with an expansive swimming pool, and the ocean lies just beyond. Within a 10-minute walk, you can explore Stone Town with its narrow streets and shops, where the history of mankind is written on every wall—from the slave market to the town squares and the harbor.

I chose this hotel again due to it‘s perfect seafront location and the oldworld Zanzibari charm and architecture. Loved the Prime room with a huge balcony from where you can watch the comings and goings on the beach and the sea below. The rooms are lovely and while not being super modern and the bathroom on the small side, I really like the Swahili style and the very comfortable bed. A highlight is the excellent breakfast served in the most beautiful breakfast room. Will stay here again, hopefully soon.

It’s our second trip to Serena Hotel. As usual the staff made us so welcome. Sulimen the front of house remembered us which was kind. The location is brilliant, near to everything but peaceful to. Everything about the hotel is wonderful. Mr Uledi the manager is a great ambassador for the hotel and very hands on. Thank you again for making us feel so at home.

It's in an interesting old building (actually two old buildings, with the main building being more interesting). The pool is great and looks out right on the beach if you want to pop into the Indian Ocean. The location is very convenient for exploring Stone Town. The breakfasts were great, but dinner seemed less inspired and the service was unimpressive.
