It’s a bit hard to get to the hotel from bus terminal if u have luggage with u as it’s a downslope to get to the hotel. There’s also isn’t any lift in the hotel so we have to carry our luggage up to the second floor. We realised when we checked out that there’s actually locker for the luggage at the ground floor. There’s only one type of water in their public onsen which is kind of disappointing as we have high expectations since it is an onsen town. The onsen water however is good. We do feel some difference before and after onsen. There’s also free coffee & hot chocolate drinks right outside the onsen area. It would be better if there’s ice water in the onsen area as the water can get very hot & especially when there’s no cold tub there. The room however is spacious with comfortable bed. There’s also a foot bath located at the ground floor of the hotel right beside the breakfast area.

Absolutely beautiful location and multiple hot spring options! The buffet breakfast was exquisite as well ask the multi-course dinner. Sadly we only were able to stay one night but waking up in morning to see beautiful flurries of snow surrounded by mountains was much more magical and memorable than I imagined! During our stay, I even lost my camera and the staff were so kind to go down the mountain and mail it to me at the airport, speak Japanese to the staff at the airport to help me find it and I am forever grateful for their kindness and service. If I lost my camera I would’ve lost all my photos and videos of the trip! The staff speak Chinese and fluent English and so it was really easy to communicate with them. Will definitely come back!! Thank you Shima Tamura!

We had a wonderful stay! We especially liked the location - walking distance to small downtown Shima, yet far enough to have less tourists walking around. The hot springs were great, food was delicious (especially if you want to try authentic local Gunma prefecture cuisine - might not be best for children), and the nightly traditional paper story telling was also great. We took a train + bus ride from Tokyo and the local bus (40min ride) from Nakanojyo station stops right in front of the hotel. We will come back again for sure!

Jinma hotels are very old
A lot of things have aged
A bit like the hotel in my parents' days
Not very comfortable
Personally I think it’s suitable for a group of friends to get together
Not suitable for couples or families
And it’s a long way from the scenic spot
The only advantage is that he is in a hotel isolated from another tourist attraction
There is a shuttle bus

I was surprised to see a hotel of the Floral Group in Japan. After reading the comments section, I learned that the front desk staff can communicate in Chinese and there is a pick-up and drop-off service from the JR station. It will be open in 2024. I made a reservation without hesitation. Before checking in, I learned The hotel contacted and learned that Mr. Hoshikawa and his wife are also Chinese. They have been studying in Japan for more than 10 years. It feels like meeting old friends in a foreign country. Because it is our first time to travel to Karuizawa, everything is strange to us. Hoshikawa The husband took the initiative to introduce us to us, and sent us to the car rental company to pick up the car the next morning, and reminded us of the precautions for driving in the snow. Since we stayed at the Karuizawa Prince Hotel the night before, our glasses and power bank were left behind. The hotel forgot to take it away, so I asked Mr. Hoshikawa to contact the Prince Hotel for help. Because the hotel is located halfway up the mountain, the hotel provides kitchen utensils for travelers to cook by themselves. Fortunately, we had enough time, so we bought all the hot pot at the 7-11 supermarket in Karuizawa. Ingredients, of course eating hot pot in the guest room restaurant is a rare experience! Thank you again🙏”Mr. Xingchuan” for your service!

I stayed in a Western-style room this time. Overall, it's good! The bed is very small and the mattress is bad! But you can sleep on tatami in the room, which is great. I highly recommend it. The tatami mat is softer than the bed~ The price-performance ratio is high in terms of dinner and breakfast, which makes me feel that breakfast and dinner are enough for the room fee. It is suitable for friends who go out during the day and only come back at night to eat and take a short nap. I have to praise the service, the staff are all good. The location is OK, but the elderly over 70 years old are a little worried about climbing the slope.

This was our first time staying at a hot spring hotel in Kusatsu. We were traveling by car, so it was very convenient to check in. We booked the hotel’s kaiseki meal for dinner. The service, food quality, and environment are all worth recommending. In addition, it only takes 5 minutes to walk from the hotel to Kusatsu Yubatake. You can also try the open-air footbath, and shop at the nearby shops and convenience stores. Our family is very satisfied this time, like it 👍🏼!

Although the hotel is small, it has a very good location and is convenient for going anywhere in the central area. It takes about 3 to 5 minutes to walk after getting off the bus. It's just that the name of the store is a little small, so if you don't understand Japanese, you may not notice it. Because the name on Ctrip is translated into Chinese, and the actual store name is in Japanese. The hotel has two small hot spring pools, and only one room can enter at a time. You basically have to wait for half an hour to soak each time. However, there are many places to soak in hot springs outside, so if you are not so obsessed with soaking in the hotel, it's no problem.
The first thing I did when I arrived at the hotel was to search for delicious restaurants nearby. I found a restaurant called Kamameshi, which looked good, but because I couldn't make an online reservation, I could only queue up at the door. So I waited for more than an hour in the cold wind. It was so cold during the waiting process that I soaked my feet in the foot bath next to it. Facts have proved that even if there are many people queuing up, it is not necessarily a delicious restaurant. The expectations are high, but the actual situation is very average, and the menu variety is also very small. I will never go to the store a second time unless there is really nothing to eat. I guess many people queuing up are also following the trend like me, out of curiosity.
In addition, when you go out, bring the bath towel and small towel provided by the hotel, so that you can take a bath at any time, because the hot springs outside do not provide towels, and some places even need to pay to rent them.
When you arrive at the place, first buy a package ticket for the three major hot springs, stamp each place, and you will be issued a certificate of completion after taking three baths, so you can take a photo to commemorate it.
Kusatsu Onsen is not big, and the attractions are very concentrated, which is quite suitable for lazy people like me, and they are all within walking distance. I personally think that planning a good itinerary is enough for two days and one night. Finally, it is still quite cold these days, so remember to wear thicker clothes, bring hats and earmuffs, because it is really cold.

Amazing
GGuest UserWonderful room, service, and overall experience. The room was equipped with a gas heater that quickly warmed the room up despite the January cold. There were also cups, a tea pot, satchels of green tea, and an electric kettle to prepare tea in the room. The onsen bath was very hot and wonderful and the futon and pillows were comfortable. 5/5 experience!
CCCSandyI chose a Western-style room the night before, and I chose a Japanese-style room tonight. I enjoy a different experience. The Japanese-style room is also very spacious and clean. In the evening, the staff will help us make the bed during dinner time without having to do it yourself. I slept comfortably for one night and the overall feeling was not bad. Japanese-style rooms are cheaper, and Japanese-style rooms are recommended in Japan 😄
小小扭扭粉The hotel's facilities and hygiene are very good
There is a kitchen and public space
The only drawback is that there is no private bathroom
So you need to wait for public showers and toilets
Because the hotel location is relatively remote
The landscape is very beautiful on snowy days
But it will be more difficult on the way to the hotel
Because there is a lot of snow and steep slopes
MMun namThe location of the hotel is first-rate. The room windows face the Yutian Scenic Area. The hotel staff are enthusiastic and proactive. Although the hotel is older, it is clean. I will still choose this hotel next time.
SSRL13064Excellent service. I will give 10 out of 5 if I could.
There was a staff who rushed out to us and asked if we were going to stay at the Ryokan. Very helpful for lost travelers overwhelmed by the cold weather. Greeted us warmly when we arrived. Explained the important information to us as best as they could in English, which is perfectly fine.
Room was big. Decorated meticulously in the traditional Japanese style. Yukata and Obi provided added on to the immersive experience.
Dinner was exquisite. Dishes gave us a taste of what traditional Japanese cuisine was like. The food was sincere (didn’t feel like frozen / canned / ready made food), served and plated meticulously.
There were 2 onsens, indoor and outdoor. They were clean and spacious enough. Water (I believe) is from the hot spring nearby and was immensely therapeutic.
Ryokan was near the heart of the town and everything was within walking distance.
Kindly shuttled us to the bus terminal when we checked out (we didn’t have to wait for fixed timings) and carried our (heavy) luggage.
All in all, we enjoyed the one night stay very much and they set a high bar for Japanese hospitality.
GGuest UserIt was close to the bus terminal and the Yubatake, so I was able to take walks there and there. The room was spacious, but it was old, so I could hear footsteps and other sounds quite often, which was quite a shock. Only four people could use the bath at a time. The staff were very friendly.
ZZarasuohuaThis is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. I like the natural hot spring water of the hotel. The buffet of the hotel is very good. The room with the mountain view is particularly comfortable. You can enjoy the scenery in the room.
AAnonymous UserVery comfy room. Excellent hospitality with friendly stuff eventho their English were not so good.
There's a full size indoor basketball court ! Too bad we don't hv time to use it.
Need to drive to the hotel.
Food excellent japanese food.
Love their onsen as well. Both in and outdoor.
JjohnyjohnsonLocation - about 10min walk from the bus terminal at Kusatsu station. Walkable unless it's snowy or froze on the ground as part of the path is quite steep to walk up. Not hard to find as the town is quite close to everything. About 15min walk to yubatake for the famous onsen for pictures and local food and snacks. You can walk to the Sainokawara Onsen(open air public onsen) for about 8min which is located just behind the hotel itself.
Service - they do provide transport to and from Yubatake with a specific timetable. They also have an open luggage area at the main hall if you area before check-in you could just leave the luggage and explore the town. They also have separate gender onsen with both indoor and outdoor facilities. They came around 7pm to my room to offer to set up my sleeping mattress. The dinner time was 6.45pm to 8pm and they may vary between seasons. You will be located in a seat in the dining room so don't worry about the crowd and having to fight for your seat. It's buffet style food and I read previous comments about food being cold. They aren't cold as it was heated around 60c ish but the moment food leaves the Bain Marie it will become cold especially during winter. Alcohol is included but you need to be 18 years old. They will start closing some stations including soft serve around 7.30pm so do get there earlier.
Cleanliness - just an older building and maintenance pretty ok. You could tell from the design it's a bit outdated but it wasn't dirty or messy.
Amenities - they have a Japanese sleep/bath robe at the main hall for guests to take if you need. There's no wifi in the room unfortunately and the only free wifi provided by the hotel is just located down at the main hall. I was given a Japanese style room which is pretty standard. It was on the 7th floor so it came with a pretty good view.
