It was an expensive cabin in the woods. Our heater was broke and on when we arrived. It took the staff until 11:30 to get the heater shut off. The food was not worth what we paid for it. The staff was friendly.

Perfect cozy accommodations in the private cabins, the fireplace was a bonus. Loved the main lodge "lobby" with plenty of places to relax and look out onto the mountains, walk around with a drink from the bar. Location is central to a lot of popular overlooks and hikes too-- staff was very willing to give tips and recommendations!

I’ve stayed at BML about 3/4 times over a 20 year period but this was the first time with my own kids. We had rooms 15/16 and knew exactly what to expect before we arrived. If you are after a luxury mountain retreat then you will bro disappointed. If you want to have some home comforts and explore the park for a few days this is perfect! The staff are all amazing and general situation is fantastic at the heart of the park with amazing views. I would recommend a room in the central building or a/c rooms rather than the cabins personally. Our room was perfect for 2 adults and 2 children as by an odd quirk you get 2 rooms for the price of one due to annually positioned fire escape! There is a double in one room and twin beds in the other connected by a double bathroom. The hotel has a tap room, restaurant and coffee bar with lots of seating around then. Things are on the expensive side but you are in a NP. The wayside diner and shop 1 mile down the road has some cheaper options and we used an ice chest to keep some drinks cool and snacks. The lodge is quiet most of the time but busier on weekends but we never had trouble sleeping. On the down side, the place needs lots of general tlc. Things like bug screens and window frames don’t fully close at times. The wood on the veranda needs to desperately be treated or replaced is its cracked and curling. Rooms are clean to the point they can be given their age and the challenges of the environment but you do need to expect natural bugs and creepy crawlies! Overall we loved this place, you just need to be clear what you are booking a your expectations! Management need to invest and soon to save parts of the building.

Cool place in the Shenandoah! It’s within the national park and we stayed after 3 days on the AT. Most amazing shower I’ve ever had - okay maybe I was influenced by the hiking dirt and grime. Lol. Lisa in the bar was outstanding.

The first surprise was no air conditioning. At this price i never thought about the rooms not having air on a 100 degrees summer day. The next was the water pressure. The shower barely sprayed water. The rooms were out of date. And the view, advertised a view from the balcony. It was fallen trees, weeds, and brush. Frankly we could have had a better stay at a Motel 6 at half the cost. Did I mention there was construction going on next to us. Not the stay we envisioned.

We were able to walk up & get a cabin with an enclosed, screened porch for 2 night mid-June. The cabin was very basic with comfortable bed & a bathroom with shower only. Everyone was friendly & helpful! Food & drink were great. The setting was gorgeous!
