St. Ives Holiday Village

Arrived Friday 1 Nov for a 3 day break on first impressions of park before entering our accommodation we thaught what a beautiful woodland setting children aged 16,9 and 6 were excited.However once arrived in our silver caravan/lodge we could smell a musty damp smell and didn't look clean or fresh upto date as it did in the photos advertised when we booked. We put windows on latch and put heating on to try to get rid of smell in bedroom you could see the damp and mould over wardrobes bed lamps bedframe the smell was unbearable went to reception and was told a cleaner would come over the cleaner arrived promptly waiting the hour and said I could clean this but It needs a deep clean she said she could see and smell the damp mould smell to be honest it was overwhelming she sed she would ask reception could we be moved if we were happy to I agreed cleaner was very helpful there was also dust grime dirt around oven and various areas very outdated van dirty headboards with a cigarette burn also various pet hair we booked a non pet van due to one of our children having allergies asthma.we were allocated a move went in to our new property we could smell bleach I was happy it seemed fresh and clean however central heating does not work we have been freezing.also once the clean bleach smell wore off we could smell from first single room we said this did not bother us we agreed would not use it.we were tired at this point fed up then main bedroom a off milk or sick smell i again put windows on latch and tried to find where smell was from it was from what appeared to be a fresh blanket made up on the bed we could not put this blanket over us due to disgusting sick smell it has smelt everywhere out past kitchen door also the other room with a smell of urine I believe is also overpowering.No central heating in a caravan lodge in November is terrible there is a small fire that heats living room whilst everywhere else is cold and disgusting smells my next step will be to contact head office.we are very very disappointed we always use haven and never used a John Fowler park before if only our accommodation was perfect as advertised .

Firstly this was my second stay and I was not offered a free room upgrade as they advertise for their rewards plan. Upon arrival we was checking in and the guy at the desk told us the keys are in the door, we went around to the small building and there was no keys, the maintenance man (who was very nice) had to come and climb into the window, whilst he was doing this we realised the bench at the front of the cabin was completely disintegrating. We went into the building and the smell was absolutely awful. I had a 6 month old baby and the smell of mold was unbearable. The bottom of the shower was completely covered in black mold and the whole building was extremely damp. By the time we had realised all of this we had already brought all of our things in which was a lot as we had our baby with us so I didn’t bother. The parking outside was diabolical and we had to walk halfway across the park at night with a baby. We have stayed before in a caravan and it absolutely beautiful this time we opted for lodge due to having more space for the travel cot however we are really disappointed in this stay and will probably not stay again.

We have just returned from a Monday - Friday stay, we had a 2 bed platinum lodge for 4 people (3 adults 1 child) The Lodge was fabulous, very spacious, clean and modern with all the basic utensils. There was even a washing machine which was a pleasant surprise. The hot tub was a real highlight. The only thing that was a disappointment was the beds, very uncomfortable with a low quality mattress. The children’s activities/entertainment were fantastic our 4 year old had a jam packed itinerary each day. The staff were very attentive to the little ones. Swimming was easy to book and although the pool is a little on the small side it was great that they provided floats/balls. (No changing rooms though which wasn’t a massive issue and if you book the 9:00am slot you may have to wait in a queue outside for a bit - not ideal) That being said we had a fab stay, our 4 year old loved it and we would consider returning again next year (if the mattresses are upgraded)

Good holiday, lovely entertainment and kids activies , Management and staff were very good accommodating with our stay and within the facilities around the place, easy kid places places close around to the holiday , been coming here with family and kids

Fantastic venue every thing you need for the kids to have fun all day. The entertainment team are easy to chat to and are approachable. The accommodation we had was really clean and well stocked with kitchen utensils pots and pans. Happy hols

Came for the first time with my in laws who come every year, I have thoroughly enjoyed myself and am looking forward to coming again next year. Christina has gone above and beyond for all of us. I have enjoyed everything the site has to offer, including the woodland walk.
