2-Star Hotels in Spring Hill

Stayed overnight in the Brisbane quarters after having to make a last minute booking and being faced with limited accomodation options. I think this place is trying to promote itself as a hybrid hostel/hotel. However having stayed there it’s clearly the former rather than the later. There is of course, nothing wrong with that - but I think it’s been a source of some confusion and previous negative reviews. On the plus side the staff were really friendly, the location was central and the private room we stayed in was fine - with TV (with Netflix), a clean private bathroom, small bar fridge and comfortable bed. It had a compact infinity pool, small kitchen and fitness space (very limited though). It looked recently renovated. Breakfast was included but for memory this was just cereal and toast. On the negative side - it is a hostel. This isn’t really clear on TripAdvisor for some reason. Anyone ＞40 years of age will feel like a dinosaur here. It carries all the traditional tells of a hostel - you get your towel assigned at reception, it’s noisy and the sheets are a bit threadbare. They will ask for your passport or drivers licence as your form of ID. Overall it’s a great option if you know what you’re in for. I think the private rooms are only worth it if they are priced around 100 dollars or less as there are usually plenty of hotels around that 150-200 mark.

A truly exceptional hotel. Quite well located in Brisbane. Doors are equipped with keyless badge that works very well, very modern. The room is fairly well equipped, with retractable table, fridge and microwave. The shared bathrooms are very clean and there's a kitchen. Nothing to complain about.

I've booked 3 nights in a studio directly fm hotel website (+ a paid secure car park). The shower water pressure is the worst I have ever experienced. It is not possible to take a proper shower & don't even think about washing hair. We've told the staff at reception in the next morning. Then, we went out for sightseeing. We're surprised that it has been fixed while we back in afternoon. So, appreciate their quick action. However, I found my face towel, which was hung on towel rack, was very dirty. Obsiously, someone cleaned his/her dirty hand by my face towel. I believe the hotel manager should do something to improve their maintenance team. Some noise fm street while sleeping. We closed the window near bed & problem solved. Lighting in the room is not enough. The little shelf in shower is too small. It can only fit in 1 shower gel bottle. And some more hooks shall be fixed in toilet for hanging clothes. Hotel location is good. Close to walk to CBD & river.

The staff as always were pleasant and courteous. The meals were yummy. This time we both had lamb shanks. Disappointed that the bed base made cracking noises and the lounge chair had a tear.

I have stayed in other motels in the area, often because the Metropolitan was fully booked. It is a short walk to town, mostly down hill, and if I wanted to bring shopping back, can get a taxi from the city center for less than $10. I have stayed here when seeing a specialist on Wickham Terrace. Not the purpose of this trip but it is an option if that is the reason to be in Spring Hill. Parking is not guaranteed, but I never had a problem finding space. the staff are courteous and the rooms clean. Currently the restaurant is not a going concern, obvious hard to do business in lockdown(s), but there is a little cafe across the road offering Vietnamese soups and western fare. If looking for place to stay in Spring Hill. Metropolitan is excellent choice on a budget.

I recently stayed at the Soho Hotel Brisbane from January 3rd to January 4th, 2024, and I must say it was a fantastic experience! The check-in process went smoothly; the staff was very welcoming, and the room was clean and comfortable. The hotel's central location made it easy for me to explore the city. I particularly appreciated the attention to detail in the room amenities. Overall, it was a delightful stay at the Soho Hotel Brisbane.

They gave me a very lovely room with good view, so I enjoyed a lot. Checking in is quick and all IHG member can get a chance to earn a reward by a lucky wheel.

We stayed here the night before leaving on a cruise that was leaving from the International Cruise Terminal. The main reason we chose this hotel was its close proximity to Roma Street Station as we caught the train from the airport. While it is close to the train station it is located at the top of a reasonable hill and it took a bit of effort to navigate the way to the top, apart from the effort. Several escalators/lifts and then a steep path with no real directions on which way to go. I thought I would be able to see the hotel to give me an idea which way but had to resort to Google Maps to find the way. Unfortunately we were on an early flight into Brisbane so as it was 09:30AM I was not expecting our room to be ready but just needed to store our bags so we good do some exploring. As expected, our room was not ready but the guy behind the counter checked me in, stored our bags and advised that the hotel was busy and our room would not be ready until about 02:00PM. No worries we will be back. We arrived back at 01:00PM and our room was still not ready and waited in the foyer till 02:00PM as previously discussed. Reception gave me our keys and we proceeded to our room on Level 1, or so I thought……..room card would not let me use the lift. Back to reception to have the card re-coded. On entry to our room, it was reasonably spacious and looked clean and reasonably comfortable. Décor a bit dated, but functional. We had a rather large balcony but we could not use it as there was no furniture so the balcony was wasted. Bathroom was small but functional, bit dated but appeared clean. It was only after we used the toilet several times that we noticed water on the floor. We ignored it for quite a while as we thought we had spilt water on the floor but it was not till the next morning that I realised it was coming from under the toilet. I reported it to reception on checkout. As we were tired from our early start we chose to order room service. While we knew how much it was going to cost it was very expensive. Two hamburgers and chips over $70. A bit steep, but as we were so tired we paid so we did not have to go out. The hamburgers were good by the way, but still way too expensive. Overall, this hotel was OK, but the room was supposed to be a superior room. OK. I would hate to be in a Standard Room………..as the room was pretty average for a Superior. After reading some of the other reviews the price we paid was fair and the location is good, just not when you have to push two big suitcases that we were taking on a cruise up the hill from the station. PS. It cost us $73 in the taxi to get to the Cruise Terminal.

The hotel is just about okay. I feel like they are trying to hard to be a good hotel but are falling really short. It’s easy to get to the airport from here but after staying in numerous hotels in Australia over the past couple of weeks, this one is definitely at the bottom of my list.

I stay here when in Brisbane - it's conveniently close to Roma Street Station, I can check in no matter how late I arrive, and I always get a good nights sleep. The breakfast in the morning fills me for the day, and the staff have always been friendly and super helpful.
