From the minute we arrived the landlady was a delight. Very welcoming and chatty, a change from what you get in the big hotels. The accommodation was clean and very comfortable (a little dated but this added to the atmosphere). Close by to everything (town/railway station/shops) but not too busy. Beds were made up daily and towels replaced. and all the little things taken care of. Only thing missing i think might be the option for breakfast, although we didn't need it as we were at events from first thing and were fed anyway. If i am in the area again i will definately stay again. A great stress free 3 nights.

Well thought out room with spacious bathroom (containing bath, so rare nowadays). Beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean. Greeted by very hospitable owner even though we were very early. Situated short walk to town centre and castle. Limited parking.

We were happy with the stay itself and the room/ location and service. However I am slightly disappointed as I have come away from the stay with a damaged car after being encouraged to park on their own private driveway, that we believed was safe after being told to park here. As we was checking out the morning after our stay we got asked if the car that had been damaged belonged to us and then informed that 'the wing mirror had been knocked slightly but everything was still in tact'. We only got informed as we was actually leaving not when the host got informed of the incident and she had then took it upon herself to go outside and use cellotape on a guests car that does not belong to herself to keep the back of the wing mirror in tact - in hope that we wouldn't notice that it had actually completely snapped off and needs fully replacing. We got told to go to Halfords which was 7 miles away to see if they could help. It was then only afterwards that we called back and said we are unhappy and concerned that there aren't any CCTV cameras visible on the property facing towards where guests are parking. The host then offered to put some money towards the damage which we obviously appreciate but do believe the behaviour was quite unprofessional and not what you expect when trying to enjoy a stay. We have now come away from this stay having to pay over £200 for this damage to my car with no explanation of how this was done. We also did not see any 'Park at your own risk' signs up around the property only a sign saying it was private property and for customers only. If you are considering staying at this property I advise you do not park on the front drive that is attached and to maybe consider parking on a secure car park that is managed by cameras.

Only 10 minute walk from centre of Skipton. Highfield house is very close to centre of Skipton. Parking is relatively easy in the area. Our host was available when I called to ask about parking on drive and as she had finished preparing the rooms allowed us to check in then. Very helpful.

Long weekend in Skipton Positives: Comfy bed Fridge in room Yorkshire tea and Grandma Wilds biscuits in room replenished daily Hosts were friendly and offered advice on local area 5-min walk to train or bus station Close to shops, pubs, restaurants Negatives: No window in bathroom and extractor fan and a bit noisy Shower took a few minutes to warm up If you like to sleep with the window open the road outside is quite busy Entrance hallway was a bit smelly Overall, good value for money. Would stay here again.

From the moment we arrived Debbie made us feel so welcome, the room was spotless, the bed was ready comfy and the room was lovely and warm. In the morning when we went for breakfast Debbie greeted us with a good morning and a smile. Breakfast was well cooked, plentiful and set us up for the day. Thank you Debbie for making our stay so enjoyable. Harold & Gene Evans

Highly recommended guest house. Stayed for 2 nights from 28th Dec. Debbie was a superb host, nothing was any trouble. Nice and cosy rooms that were always warm and tidy. Comfortable bed with clean sheets, great breakfast choice. The guesthouse is in a great location for town centre, 2/3 minute walk where there is plenty to see and do. Lovely walk around the back of castle, take boots as can get quite muddy. Once again we loved our first visit to Skipton which was made better by where we stayed. Will be back.
