The Coniston Hotel Country Estate & Spa - Skipton

We got a really good rate through the Trip website. Kelsey on reception changed our room because there was no bath in the first room. The staff at the hotel were very smartly dressed. The food at breakfast was excellent. We are two nights in Macleod. Again the food was excellent. We would recommend this hotel. The only negative was if you hadn’t booked a spa break you had to pay £30 each to use the pool.

Such a lovely stay, the spa and grounds are beautiful. We enjoyed our 2 hour spa session + the garden bath experience which came with a glass of fizz and a treat which was really nice and relaxing. All the staff were fantastic, from making our booking with the reservations team, the reception staff and the team in the restaurant!! The room was clean and comfortable. A really nice stay, would definitely recommend.

Not stayed but felt needed to write this review, as the lack of correspondence as put me off the hotel Been emailing the events team to book on an event. First emailed about 2 months ago and no reply. Emailed reservations and no reply. Rang reception and they were unhelpful. Put read receipts on emails and only one been read, but no response. How much money is being lost by this lack of professionalism Been to the hotel to visit and its all very nice, found staff nice Was looking at booking a wedding there, but I'll be looking elsewhere

Booked the spa break with dinner bed and breakfast for my mums birthday. Spa The spa is small inside, but the outside area is lovely. It was a shame we couldn’t use this area due to the sheer volume of wasps outside. It wasn’t just one or two, but swarms all over the decking. A couple of which got inside and we had to keep swatting away. Not relaxing or pleasant. We asked for the “estate spritz” that was part of our booking. We were asked for the voucher card. Reception had missed giving us these. I showed my booking email to the girl serving but this wasn’t acceptable. No offer of trying to help us out with sorting the hotels error, so we left the spa and went down to get our own vouchers. Apologies from reception but spa staff couldn’t have cared less. Reaction said spa staff could have rung to check but they didn’t bother. Room Tired, mould/mildew on the ceiling, no hot water in the shower only hot water for the bath, mould/mildew all over the curtains. Booked a family room and received a double. Not a problem as only the two of us but no one checked that the change of room was suitable for us, there could have been reason why we booked the extra bed. Restaurant reservation We were booked into the restaurant automatically on booking to package. I asked to be changed to the bar as we preferred this menu. I was told over email the bar was closed for private dining but we could have the bar menu in the view restaurant. We arrive for our reservation only to be told we couldn’t have the bar menu. But we could now sit in the bar area for food as they changed the private dining. No apologies again, rude staff in the view restaurant. Bar menu and food/service were lovely. Couldn’t fault them at all. Complaints made to reception and they asked for 48 hours to investigate and come back to us. Nothing. Emailed to chase and asked for a bit longer to review. Nothing. Chased again and no response. Now it’s 12 days later and clearly the hotel doesn’t care enough to respond to concerns raised. Poor poor service and after spending hundreds it has left a very sour taste and we won’t be returning.

The grounds and views are spectacular. The quality of the food is excellent and the regular staff were friendly. Nice spacious room with balcony but perhaps ready for some modernisation. The spa was very good especially with the outdoor space on a good weather day. Compared to other similar hotels, it does lack a nice comfy lounge area but because the weather was fabulous, the outdoor terrace made up for that. We enjoyed the off-road driving experience. The only real criticism would be there's need for a little extra maintenance and attention to detail.

The Coniston Country Hotel is our "goto" hotel. It is set within it's grounds, and surrounded by fantastic views. It has a large private car park, very comfortable bedrooms, two restaurants a Spa and off road experiences. We found all the staff to be very friendly and welcoming. We stayed on a DBB rate. All the meals were good, having a varied menu selection. The Spa was amazing, with a wide variety of treatments. Large white fluffy bathrobes and towels were provided. The changing rooms were clean and tidy with plenty of lockers for our personnel belongings.
