Well located hotel, nice brewery across the road and tasty street food nearby. However the rooms were unbelievably small and because of this I felt claustrophobic. There is no ventilation fan in the bathroom and I noticed some small bugs jumping around the shower when I first arrived, but flushed them with hot water. If it's location your after then this is it, but if you want somewhere to enjoy your stay, maybe choose another hotel.

Grab the stay during Trip.com deals. Happy with the SG60 deals. Bed was comfortable and location was good. I feel room amenities can be improved... Room layout as show on photo however the toilet design can be better. There is no way i can enter the toilet and head in to the shower room... too cramp.

Service-wise, the reception team gets the job done efficiently, but they really lack the human touch that makes hospitality feel warm and welcoming. They’re polite, but everything feels very transactional — more about completing the task than genuinely attending to guests. When I arrived, I asked about early check-in and was told there would be a fee of SGD 90, which I understood. However, when I tried to clarify whether the rate would differ if I checked in 3 hours earlier versus 5 hours earlier, the receptionist immediately jumped into defending the policy instead of addressing my question, which came across as quite defensive. Later, I also witnessed a tense exchange between the staff and another guest who was charged for a late check-out. From what I overheard, the guest mentioned she was sick and had overslept, which was why she missed their calls. Still, the receptionist insisted on the charge and said everyone is treated the same, especially since it was the F1 season. It felt unnecessarily rigid and lacked empathy — something you’d expect more of in a hospitality environment. That said, the facilities and amenities were excellent — everything was clean, modern, and comfortable. It’s just unfortunate that the overall experience felt less pleasant because the service didn’t match the quality of the property itself.

I was very disappointed by this hotel. Let me give the pros first, then we can talk about the cons which are many and diverse but focus on one aspect mostly with many branches I guess. Pro: - the staff was kind and helpful to the best of their possibilities (limited probably by upper management? Just a guess) - the location is right I'm between Chinatown and Marina Bay area.. Definitely walkable distance from both (if you don't mind the weather and are a walker) - free bottle of wine (I don't drink alcohol) and little lion plushie (so cute!) as a free gift That's it. Now to the cons: - the furniture and structure is old.. An it shows. I guess if you come here expecting a high tier 4 star hotel as the Singapore hotel seem to be, you'll be heavily disappointed. Switches, wardrobe, carpets, safe, everything is clearly old - I originally got a business executive room (floor 20) and was so disappointed that I had to complain... It was definitely NOT on par with what I was paying. Admittedly this was during the F1 days so this makes thing a bit more reasonable since prices are crazy everywhere during those days, but I was staying here 10 days and it was not acceptable - after complaining the Staff kindly upgraded me to a premium room (floor 17) which was slightly better but still insufficient... This room admittedly had a very nice view on the city with a big window, and a nice cozy bath tub.. But that's about it, everything else is still true - I couldn't use the restaurant since I quickly passed by but the food wasn't too interesting to me so just went for a Korean BBQ nearby.. So that's up to you. There were people eating there and seemed satisfied though :) Overall if this was a 3 star hotel and way cheaper then I would have not complained, but again for the price and the category not enough for me.

An Airbnb style hotel that makes you feel like you rented an apartment instead of a hotel room. The location is super great, right at the centre of Chinatown. There is a Starbucks and an 7-Eleven downstairs, and lots of local shops. But there is no elevator to the front desk or rooms, so you have to climb some stairs. Windows are not sound-proof so the crowded street can be noisy sometimes. Everything is quite self-serviced only and cleaning services are only provided weekly. They do offer luggage storage though.

This stay was a wonderful experience! The front desk was welcoming and friendly, and check-in and check-out were smooth. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, and the soundproofing was excellent, allowing for a restful night's rest. There are many restaurants and cafes nearby, making it very convenient for dining. The hotel is conveniently located, the environment is quiet and clean, and the value for money is excellent. The staff was professional and friendly, and I would stay here again next time!

The hotel is incredibly close to the MRT, making it super convenient to get around. There are plenty of delicious food and snack options right downstairs. The night view from the rooftop pool is absolutely stunning and incredibly photogenic! They also provide complimentary water and coffee in the room, and best of all, no deposit was required. Overall, my experience was fantastic, and I'd absolutely choose this hotel again on my next visit to Singapore!

Location was great. Easily access to public transport. Not far from Chinatown. Cleanliness was ok. The light in the room was too dim and not enough, it would be better if they have light in the desk/mirror area. One thing I don’t like the most about this room was the bathroom. They use clear glass to separate between toilet and shower and have only 1 sliding door. As I travelled with my friend, we don’t feel comfortable with this as we can see each other naked. We asked the hotel to give us some curtain to block between both areas but they don’t have it, so we managed by hanging a towel to block but it is not enough.

We stayed here for two nights to celebrate my husband’s birthday and had a fantastic, pleasant experience. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, and the bathroom was especially beautiful and we loved the bathtub! The garden-themed furnishings added a charming touch that we really appreciated. There was also a complimentary birthday cake delivered by the staff as well, which we appreciate :) We had requested a room with a nice view and were pleased to be given a high-floor room (Level 14) overlooking the Padang which was a lovely touch. One small point of feedback: we noticed that the toiletries provided (body wash, shampoo, and conditioner) were manufactured in 2022. It would be great if these could be refreshed to ensure the best guest experience. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and we would be happy to return.

Singapore Chinatown Hotel Guide

Singapore doesn’t really stop moving, but it has its softer side if you know where to go. Around Orchard Road and Marina Bay, the streets are busy with shoppers, the smell of hawker food drifts out from food courts, and rooftop spots come alive with people enjoying the city lights. Malls are packed with energy, MRT stations hum with crowds, and there’s always something happening. Yet, just a short walk away, you can slip into a quiet temple, sit by the Singapore River, or relax in a garden corner where the city feels calm. Life here flows between the buzz and the stillness, letting you enjoy both the lively pace and the peaceful breaks.

Getting to and Around Singapore

Singapore is served by Changi Airport (SIN), one of the world’s busiest and most traveler-friendly airports, located about 20 km from the city center.

From Changi, you can hop on the MRT straight into town, take a taxi, or use ride-hailing apps like Grab for convenience. Airport shuttle buses and private transfers are also available if you prefer door-to-door service.

Once in the city, getting around is simple thanks to Singapore’s reliable MRT system, public buses, and affordable taxis. The MRT covers almost all major attractions, while buses reach the smaller neighborhoods. Walking is pleasant in central areas like Marina Bay or Orchard Road, and everything is well-connected, so you rarely need to worry about traffic.

If you want to make arrival even easier, many hotels offer airport pick-up services, which can be a big help after a long flight.

Tips for Booking Singapore Hotels

Book Early for Peak Seasons

Hotels in Singapore get booked up quickly during Chinese New Year, the Formula 1 Grand Prix (September), and year-end holidays. If you’re visiting around these times, it’s best to reserve your stay well in advance. Popular areas like Marina Bay and Orchard Road usually have higher prices and limited availability.

Watch Out for Major Events

Big events such as the Singapore Grand Prix, National Day celebrations, and international conferences bring in large crowds. Hotel rates often rise during these periods, so booking early ensures you secure a good location without overspending.

Save with Booking Perks

Platforms like Trip.com often offer discounts and special perks. New users can sometimes enjoy extra savings on selected hotels, which means more budget left for dining at hawker centers or trying a rooftop bar with city views.

Stay Smart with Location Choices

If you want to save on your hotel, you don’t have to stay right in the middle of Orchard Road. Consider these areas:

  • Bugis – Affordable stays with plenty of shopping and dining nearby.
  • Chinatown – Budget-friendly hotels surrounded by food streets, temples, and MRT access.
  • Little India – Colorful neighborhood with good value guesthouses and lots of local charm.

GGuest UserLoved our stay at The Clan Hotel! It’s conveniently located right next to Telok Ayer train station with lots of cafes and food options in the area. The room was spacious and beautifully designed in a modern heritage style. We were welcomed with a complimentary tea ceremony and lots of in-room refreshments as well. The only underwhelming part of the experience was the hotel breakfast - the spread was rather small and food tasted mediocre. The pool and gym also have limited capacity but the pool is open till 12 midnight and the gym is 24/7 so that makes up for it!

EEdRobinsonLR18-19 August 2025 I am overly satisfied with my booking at ST Signature Tanjong Pagar! Thank you so much for a very nice experience of a co-living environment. Glad to have chosen this property as my place for the night right after attending the solemnisation of my friends. The room is cozy, with some kind of elemental mixture of vintage & modern vibes. The front desk staff portrayed very good service. The location is a plus as well, considering that it's in the heart of the CBD. Absolutely had a great time and this hotel added much on happy memories to cherish. 🤓

TtotofatboyI am satisfied with the experience here. The bed is comfy, and each room has a television and enough space (though it’s still tiny compared to a standard hotel). The location is amazing—close to Chinatown and Maxwell. The only downside is that I need to go to the bathroom on another floor, which is not convenient for someone like me who needs to use the toilet frequently at night. But I will absolutely consider booking this place next time. Lastly, I want to say that the young male staff here are quite handsome🤭

CChee Yu YanBoutique hotel located centrally with unique interior design. Enjoyed the tapas style food prepared by their Chef during cocktail hour. Service at sister hotel- Maxwell Reserve's cafe, was lacklustre (staff was inattentive and not prompt). However, we really appreciated the service from a few staff over at Duxton Reserve. In particular Joel and his Indian teammate. They were friendly and attentive to details (e.g. remembering names and preference of drinks). Their service exemplified the qualities of hospitality truly. If you are looking for a place with a unique design, peace and quiet, and don't mind the lack of facilities (e.g. pool/gym), give this a shot. Otherwise, you are better off trying other places

MM612264****The service was pretty good. The accommodation is in a combined restaurant downstairs and rooms upstairs. The environment is nice, newly renovated. Another guy couldn't stand it and left, haha. I also felt it was a bit too much. I hope the owner can improve ventilation. Luckily, the air conditioning was always on ventilation mode. After ordering, you can just go to the first floor and find a staff member. Cleanliness: Clean. Disposable toiletries are self-service. Facilities: Complete. Charging stations are readily available. Environment: There is a separate rest area outside the accommodation, which is a plus. Service: Chinese is available, and if not, they use a translator. They are friendly to Chinese people. Facilities: The air conditioning is set to 24 degrees Celsius. The central air conditioning cannot be adjusted, so this temperature is OK. There are also small electric fans outside that you can bring in. The breakfast was excellent. You can choose your own, and there's also a free snack buffet. This is very cost-effective. I hope the owner continues to maintain this level of quality.
