4-Star Luxury Hotel for the Backpacker Price of $40/night! The first thing you notice about Sokha Palace Siem Reap Hotel is just how pretty it is! The architect, painters, decorators and maintenance staff did a fabulous job (see my photos). The second thing you notice is how delicious the huge buffet is – including free espresso drinks. Third, you notice that the rooms are not only nice but that everything works well (aircon, hot water showers, refrigerator, wifi, and cable TV with news channels from a half dozen countries like CNN). Fourth, it is in a quiet location less than 15 minutes from Angkor Wat, and only a $2 tuktuk ride to Pub Street or anywhere else in Siem Reap. But then you notice the best part: the outstanding hotel staff. For example, the Front Desk Manager Phyrun personally helped me when I could not make my room keycard work, and even brought me a bucket of ice. Originally I booked five nights during Chinese New Year with Trip.com discounts for $39/night, but he gave me a free upgrade from a garden view double with king bed to a pool view room. I liked it so much I wanted to extend, but the best I could find online was $41/night garden view, $51 for pool view. I asked Phyrun if I could get the upgrade again if I bought the $41 online, and he said no – but he smiled and said he would give it to me for $40/night the Khmer rate instead (normally $50 for barangs like me)! The restaurant had other examples of great staff. Some days the restaurant is overflowing with several hundred guests, other days only a few dozen. Yet they maintain the quality and personal touch from the egg and soup station, to the bountiful buffet, to the waiters and waitresses that clear the tables. The Restaurant Manager Somedy and his Assistant Manager Chhaiya keep it all flowing smoothly. Even on the busiest day, waitress Chanthla took the time to show my Khmer friend’s elderly stepmom the way they fold the napkins. Today the espresso machine was not working for a while, so Chhaiya offered to have a waiter drive over to the sister hotel to bring me lattes. I repeatedly declined, but was very impressed by the excellent customer service attitude. So the real beauty of this French chateau style hotel is its employees, including very efficient housekeeping and grounds staff. I checked out the “5-Star” Sokha Resort on the other side of its convention center, but did not like it half as much (especially for 70% more per night). Normally I would be afraid to write a review of a hotel that I like so much, but with 456 rooms I don’t have to worry about it being full. Do yourself a favor and stay here when in Siem Reap.

I recently stayed at the Memoire Hotel and had a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly and attentive, making check-in smooth and easy. The room was clean and comfortable, with great amenities. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area!

Super friendly, helpful, reliable staff. Everything is very new and well maintained. Drinking water is available at any time in refillable glass bottles at reception. The pool is large and beautifully laid out, the gym is equipped with everything you can imagine. Right next to the complex there is a supermarket, a café/restaurant and a large co-working space. You won't miss anything and we will definitely be back!

Extremely clean, comfortable and tasteful rooms, gorgeous pool and delightful decor Close to the markets and Apsara theatre. The dining room and sky bar both produce great local food and western favorites too. Breakfast buffet is massive and fabulous variety of Cambodian and western foods. But the best part was the staff: kind, courteous, fast and efficient. Can't praise this place enough. Thank you.

The service staff is very nice, and the hotel breakfast fried rice is so delicious. I am really happy to stay here and will recommend it to my friends! The hair dryer in the room is a bit small, maybe it can be replaced. The shampoo provided can also be improved! I booked this hotel for my school. We facilitated an outreach program at a local charity. The hotel met our needs perfectly. They had rooms to host 4 students per room. This not only fit our program conveniently but also proved to be budget friendly. The hotel had a good breakfast, that included eggs, bacon, veggies, and different breads (both sweet and regular). The hotel pool was clean and very refreshing, the heat in Cambodia can be quite hectic. The hotels location proved perfect for us. It is located a small distance away from the pub street, perhaps 10min with a tuk-tuk. This meant that we did not need to worry about wonders venturing out late at night with the use of a tuk-tuk (which we advised the hotel to be aware of). The hotel was however, conveniently located right next to a South African pub called Ubuntu. The pub had a great menu as well as cold beer, which is ideal after a long day in the heat of Siem Reap. I will be booking this hotel again for the second part of the outreach program.

We had a great time in Siem Reap, Cambodia with my family - two adults and two children (15 and 11 years old). Our holiday lasted from January 9 to 11, 2025, and we stayed at the Koulen Centy Hotel, where we rented two rooms: a standard double room and a standard double room with separate beds. Here are our impressions: Location: The hotel is in a great location next to Pub Street, where restaurants, cafes, bars and street food are concentrated. There is a 7-Eleven store nearby, as well as many souvenir shops and clothing stores. Hotel design and amenities: The hotel is new, clean and decorated in a modern style with attention to detail. The rooms were provided with water, towels, slippers, toothbrushes and a kettle. We were especially pleased with the stable free Wi-Fi. However, there were also disadvantages: the water in the shower did not drain well, and the audibility between the rooms was very loud. It is also worth noting that the hotel does not have family rooms or adjoining rooms for four people, and our rooms were on different floors with children. Service: The staff showed a high level of professionalism and friendliness. All the staff speak English, but there are no Russian-speaking staff. We were treated to soft drinks upon check-in. Food: The hotel restaurant offered a varied buffet menu, and everything was very tasty. The only thing that could be improved was the amount of fruit. Recreation facilities: The hotel has three swimming pools, beach towels, a bar and a gym. We were disappointed that the water in the pool was very cold, despite the declared heating. Overall impression: We were pleased with our stay at the hotel. The city of Siem Reap amazed us with its cleanliness, wonderful people and many delicious restaurants.
