Ocean View Hotel

Really nice view. I enjoyed everything. Bathtubs was amazing.

We were bed and breakfast The food was good but the restaurant was chaotic! The room was very good with a nice sea view,but the room was never cleaned during the 5 days of our stay! The staff on duty always tried to be helpful but they failed to forefill any of our requests! We asked for an iron, they hunted high and low for one but never found one!! The evening entertainment was very poor ! My biggest complaint was the parking arrangements!!!! I am disabled and I was assured disabled parking which didn't exist! There was one disabled space in the hotel ,but it was no wider than any other parking space!!!. I Parked in a parking space between the designated white lines at 3pm ,when I went to go out in the evening 3 coaches had parked in the coach area blocking my exit till the next morning.!!!!

Really nice hotel. Spotless everywhere and the staff were friendly and helpful. Beds were very comfortable which enabled us to have a great sleep. Well worth a visit. The only reason I have not given it 5 starts is just down to the lift broken. I’m sure when that is repaired the place will be heaving .

My husband and I went on a five day trip to the hotel with Majestic tours. We had read the recent negative reviews and feared the worse. We were pleasantly surprised. On arrival our cases were taken to our room which had a lovely sea view.. It was very spacious and had a walk in shower which I had previously requested. We were half board and found both the breakfast and the evening meal very tasty with plenty of choice. There was a happy hour in the bar between 4pm and 6pm which was very welcome after a day sightseeing! There was some sort of entertainment each evening which included, bingo, quiz and singers.All in all , a very pleasant stay with welcoming staff. I would have awarded the review 5 stars but unfortunately the lift was out of order during our stay and as we w ere on the second floor my husband found it very difficult climbing all the stairs as he has respiratory issues. Don’t be put off by negative reviews, the hotel is situated in a lovely part of Shanklin with exceptional staff

Went as a group of 20 and found very friendly staff ,lovely rooms tidy and clean with amazing views and delicious food Pat Eggelton

We have just returned from a coach trip staying at The Ocean View Hotel Shanklin Isle of Wight. We arrived to be told that the lift was not working. This remained out of action for the rest of our stay. Many of our party, including my husband, were concerned about the number of stairs everywhere in the hotel, including to access the dining room. We were lucky as out bedroom was on the ground floor. Others were not so lucky and had to climb challenging stairs throughout the stay. The lift had been out of action the day before too which meant guests could have been made aware of the situation and maybe chosen not to come. Some guests had to be placed in other hotels so they could have bedrooms they could access. The food was unacceptable and badly presented. A number of guests, including ourselves, had to eat in the coffee shop which was easier to access with only one flight of stairs. However this room was only set for us once the rest of the time it was set up as we arrived with place settings often incomplete. This hotel has recently had new owners and it was very clear they were ‘finding their way’. In my opinion they are not ready to receive guests. One plus was the bar staff, who were very slick and professional. Thank goodness we were sharing our holiday with such lovely people we graciously accepted this ‘under par’ experience.
