The Brunswick

We had the best time at The Brunswick although our booking was just for one night. The personnel were very welcoming and nice to have around. We made use of the indoor heated swimming pool and the sauna for a couple of hours in the afternoon, and enjoyed our breakfast the following morning. We’d definitely recommend it for your stay in Shanklin.

Had a group booking here for 50+ people. The Brunswick staff were very friendly, flexible and accommodating and the lounge/bar area was a brilliant space for us socialising in the evening. The location and access to the beach is fantastic, the sunrise views were incredible and the room layouts are very flexible for accommodating a group of our size. The staff team, led by David, were friendly and David kept us all entertained throughout our visit...thanks for helping to make our weekend on the Island such fun.

We booked last minute as we were making an overnight business trip to the Island (and usually stay at the other end) but decided to try out Shanklin this time. I dont think we had any expectations of the hotel really but were pleasantly surprised by it and impressed by the two swimming pools. The night we stayed over was a quiet night in the hotel as its now out of season but the welcome from DJ couldnt have been better. After getting soundly thrashed at pool by my colleague we went out for a meal and tried out one of the local restaurants recommended to us by the staff. Ive stayed in plenty of hotels whilst away on business trips and have to say that the welcoming atmosphere and overall hospitality at the Brunswick was above and beyond!

Booked an exclusive kids swimming party followed by kids lunch for 11 children. Absolutely brilliant venue. Fab team of David & Em at the hotel who orchestrated our event. I decorated our tables and brougut cake. We had total use of the pool, dining area and games room. The hotel is lovely as always. We've stayed many times. We couldn't have asked for better. Thank you David, Em and your kitchen team. Food came out on time and as ordered. David accommodated one extra little one and we even had extra sandwiches, chips and lots of hot drinks for grown ups. Thank you to the lovely chef who accommodated our lady min requests. Nothing was too much trouble. The Brunswick is a little gem in Shanklin. X

The hotel is dumpy and old and in much need of refurbishment. There were funky odors in some parts of the hotel though our room smelled okay. The WI-FI in the room was terrible. The main issue we had is that the hotel did not notify us ahead of time that a noisy private party would be occurring. The hotel should not have accepted our reservation knowing that they had a noisy private party scheduled. Due to noise from bands and people yelling we ended up finding another hotel for the night.

We stayed for our birthdays and were not disappointed. The room was serviced and the beds were made every day. The location near Chine walk and old town Shanklin was brilliant. Parking easy. Friendly staff. Only had breakfast but very tasty. Would book again.

Can't wait to return to this hotel. My wife and l have just had an amazing 4 day break on the lsland staying at this lovely friendly hotel. Excellent food and staff . Can't praise this hotel enough Thank you Brunswick for a brilliant stay Brendan and Linda Sheehy

Myself, Husband & two friends had the unfortunate experience of staying in the Brunswick. It was our first time in IOW & had travelled a long way to stay in this awful hotel. Room was very dated, tired looking & also lacked cleanliness. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls, mismatched old bedside lamps plugged into an extension cable! TV on wall with lots of wires hanging from it. Furniture tired & all scratched. Bathroom was not clean, black mould in corners of bath tiles. Shower head was not high enough for my Husband. & he had to stoop to shower. List is endless! My Husband’s bath towel was filthy with black marks & had to use hand towel to dry himself with. Had to ask reception 3 times during the day for this changed. Breakfast was very poor. I asked for a poached egg for breakfast on the first morning & it was rock hard& was like rubber. I was not able to eat it. I had scrambled egg the next day & it was all sloppy & inedible. My Husband had the full breakfast which he said was very poor quality & only got one of each item! Our friend is a bit more picky with his breakfast so he asked for bacon, egg & beans. His plate came out like a child’s portion of one fried egg, one piece of bacon & a small ramekin of beans. Not only is the food terrible but dining chairs have been painted & are all scratched. My friend ordered a burger when we arrived on the Friday night. She could not eat it as it was like rubber. She had to just scrape it into the bin nearby. Our stay in IOW was totally ruined staying in such a shabby, dirty & tired hotel. I know that this is only a 3 star hotel but that doesn’t mean your room should be dirty or you have a filthy bath towel for you to use. I have stayed in far better back street B&B’s in Blackpool & paid a lot less for the stay. If it wasn’t for the hotels nearby all being booked up I would have insisted on a refund, packed up & stayed somewhere else. We had a terrible experience & would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Please don’t waste your money staying here!

Thank you all at the Brunswick Hotel for a fabulous week stay everyone there was super friendly and helpful, Breakfast was fabulous we had a lovely sea facing room with tea coffee small fridge and pure white towels The hotel is in a fabulous location not far from the beach or the town with shops and restaurants , we didn't use the indoor or outdoor pools but they were if needed ,we were lucky to have good weather and toured around the island ,We would definitely recommend this hotel
