I’ve lived and traveled around China for 6 years and have been to Shanghai countless times trying many different types and levels of hotels. The Fairmont Peace Hotel is by the far the best I’ve ever experienced in Shanghai thus far. The service at check in was fantastic and friendly and so accommodating. The lady spoke perfect English which helped me a lot and went so far as to walk us to our room and explain some key points. All staff are wonderful and smiling and so willing to help. The room was clean and quiet and had all the modern finishings to make life easy while blended into a beautiful and traditional style. The Jazz Band is a must see and the small museum is lovely. The Phoenix Restaurant produced some delicious food. Overall I cannot stop singing the praises of this hotel. Also location is fantastic for tourists. Right on the Bund and close to subway stations and taxi pickup points if needed.

We had a wonderful stay at the Andaz in Shanghai, made even better by the exceptional service we received from Lynn at the front desk. From the moment we arrived, Lynn went out of her way to assist us with our room and check-in, communicating clearly and confidently in English, which made everything smooth and stress-free.
The hotel is ideally located, close to restaurants, shops, and some of Shanghai’s most exciting attractions, making it a perfect base for exploring the city. Our room was spacious, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable, a true retreat after a day of sightseeing.
The attention to detail, warm hospitality, and high standard of service truly stood out. Thank you, Lynn, for your kindness and professionalism. You made our stay at the Andaz unforgettable.
We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Shanghai!

The room we got has a very nice view of the bund skyline. No need to go crowded bund area coz you got it in the room. The hotel is just walkable to rockbund and nanjing road and some nice eateries as well. Very convinient for shopping and food trip. Another thing is the robot deliveries 🥰👍

Amazing hotel if you want to stay away from business of the city. We booked premium club room and honestly it was the best option because we had breakfasts , afternoon tea and small dinner buffet with drinks, it was more than enough to make us happy . Special thanks to housekeeping for keeping our room clean and organized. The only thing is English proficiency could be improved of some stuff and maybe proactiveness in services. Anyways we loved it and will come back for sure :)

I had a great experience at Crowne Plaza Shanghai. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the service throughout my stay was excellent. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, with everything I needed to relax after long days out in the city. The hotel has a classic charm and a peaceful atmosphere that made me feel at home. I also really appreciated the convenient location, close to shops, restaurants, and transport. Overall, a wonderful stay, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend it to others!

We had a wonderful stay at the Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden Hotel. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The hotel’s location is incredibly convenient—right beside Yu Garden, with several shopping malls and food stalls nearby, and the metro station just right across the street. Getting around the city was so easy from this central location.
What truly made our stay memorable was the excellent service from the staff, especially Ms. Hannie. From the moment we arrived, she went above and beyond to assist us—helping with our itinerary, suggesting great places to visit, and even advising us on all our queries with our trip. Her fluent English was a huge help, as she was the only staff member we encountered who could communicate clearly in English. We truly appreciated her warm and attentive service throughout our stay.
Highly recommended for anyone visiting Shanghai!

The Jin Jiang Hotel is a huge complex within a short walk of Shaanxi Road metro station and it's easy to get practically anywhere in Shanghai from.
The staff are courteous, and pretty much all amenities are provided for, including a decent umbrella to tackle the Shanghai rains.
The rooms are generously sized, always immaculately clean, and again all amenities are provided for.
The biggest issue is noise, not from neighbouring rooms, but from the hallways where you will find either guests or housekeeping shouting in 中文 early in the morning and it is practically impossible if you need to sleep in.
TVs could use an upgrade to something modern that supports casting from your own device, although in China I am not sure international travellers would have much luck casting their favourite services anyway.
Otherwise a great hotel.

We are given a warm welcome and free upgrade to a higher floor for a better view. Appreciate that. Encountered a small incident when we check in. Something fell from the ceiling and nearly hit my friend. Feedback to reception n investigation was quickly carried out. Impressed at their quick turnaround. Findings it was dried paint from the ceiling. Have me wondering. Quite a big patch and corners are sharp. I took a pic of one of them. We were given upgrade to higher floor with desserts n sweets. However the access to the executive lounge that came with the room was not granted. Hotel will have give us the full access if they are sincere in their apology. That will be an extra step and beyond from Marriott to set them apart. Anyway, their housekeeping is mediocre. Dusty at some places and they did not clear the used cutlery. Expect the guests to wash ? Other than this , the rest of the stay is still enjoyable. Location is near Nanjing road n malls n dining. McDonald CHAGEE n subway downstairs. Need to take didi to the bund. Short drive.

Excellent
CChris .HThis hotel is so~~~~ great. I am so touched by their service. Best Shanghai hotel ever. Those people at the front desk were fantastic. They even provided free Yu Yuan tour with guests. I have to thank so much to Jerry. He helped every thing for us. Very considerate and delicate service. He should be the global best hotelier!!! Location is very good. Right next to the Bund and Yu Yuan, both short walking distance. Don't worry if your room doesn't have a good view since in the 11th floor common balcony, any guests can have a beautiful view of the Shanghai Tower and the Oriental Pearl Tower. I loved their breakfast as well. The lady who checked in for my family for the restaurant was so great. I forgot her name, but maybe Camela. I really appreciate you! 1st floor bell crews were so kind as well. I definitely want to come to this hotel again. My families Shanghai visit was much happier because of these people. If I come again, I will stay with them. Thank you and miss you, everyone.
RRocketMan69**A Hidden Gem in People's Square – Exceptional Service & Cozy Charm!**
Opartment Hotel is an absolute gem in the heart of People’s Square! From the moment we arrived, the service was nothing short of exceptional. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home—so much so that they even provided dinner for our dog! That level of hospitality is rare and truly appreciated.
The hotel itself is located in a beautiful historical building, and while it’s newly renovated, it has so much charm and character. Every little detail, from the cozy interiors to the thoughtful amenities, makes it feel warm and inviting. You get the best of both worlds—modern comforts with a touch of old-world elegance.
And let’s talk about the location! Being in People’s Square means you’re right in the middle of everything, with easy access to the city's best sights, restaurants, and shopping. Whether you’re visiting for work or leisure, you can’t ask for a better spot.
Highly recommend Opartment Hotel if you’re looking for a unique, comfortable, and incredibly welcoming place to stay in Shanghai!
PPeter 佛系游客Staff ok. Reasonable English and willing to help. Hotel and rooms are clean and service not intrusive.
Location is good. Not far from some sights. Can easily walk to Nanking pedestrian are (南京步行街).
Hotel facilities are not up to standard of an international brand. Breakfast ok. But our TV sets in our room had terrible reception particularly to the Chinese channels, it happens that I like to watch the CCTV (chinese central tv?) documentaries and I could not, as I informed the front desk on the 2nd day, not fixed, then informed on the 3rd morning then slightly better, so I gave up. Also, for some reason, the tv sets in the room and the living room were linked and when I turned on one, the other would start but not synchronized. At the first night, nothing could be done but to turn both off.
There was also water leakage of ?water from the closet ceiling, my wife's dress was wet from that, after fixing on the 2nd day, on the 3rd day, leak less but water still dropped.
To be fair. The front desk asked me if I needed to change room by then but I was leaving on the 4th morning and my wife had moved all the clothing to the connecting room closet, so no harm already.
Definitely not going back and not recommend this hotel.
Our friends told us that this hotel was old but not an excuse.

Very Good
GGuest UserMr.Daniel welcomed me very well during my check-in. His English accent and warm energy let you feel good and safe in here. The room is very clean, breakfast is very rich, location is great to reach to Bund by walking distance, subway station is just opposite of the road. Everything was awesome.
GGuest UserThe location of this hotel is simply unbeatable for those looking to enjoy the stunning night views of the Waitan. Within just a three-minute walk, you can take in the breathtaking skyline, making it a perfect choice for anyone wanting to experience the beauty of Shanghai. The surrounding neighborhood is also a delight, with excellent restaurants offering great ambiance and a variety of dining options.
However, one drawback was the room temperature—it was uncomfortably cold when we arrived. Despite having a staff member check the facility, the issue wasn’t resolved at first. Fortunately, after following up again, it was properly fixed, which we appreciated.
Overall, our stay was very enjoyable, and the prime location, along with the vibrant surroundings, made it a memorable experience.
JJamesOverall experience was excellent. Very helpful staff on reception advised us on availability for a second night, and kept me right with our stay. Views from river view room and the bar were amazing. Food in the Quay was great for families and lots of options for kids and adults. Char restaurant was extremely overpriced so we decided not to dine there. Only slight downside was the rooftop bar on Friday/Saturday/Sunday evenings requires a charge for entry which was not advertised anywhere. It wa s abit off putting as hotel guests would assume they have access to this facility without additional cost. However Would stay again!
