It was my first time to Semporna with my friends. After landing, we chose a forest resort homestay with a good reputation in the town and stayed there for two nights. Before checking in, the boss set up a group to communicate in advance about the pick-up, which made us feel particularly at ease~ The small wooden house we stayed in was clustered in the natural environment of the palm forest and I loved it. The cabin is hidden in the palm forest, very close to the town of Semporna. The cabin is clean, hygienic, quiet and private. The boss is very friendly and asked her to arrange an island hopping tour for us. The price is affordable. The leader Xiao Hei is very enthusiastic and sang all the way. There are cars to pick up for island hopping or dinner at the town pier. The service is very considerate.

Located outside of Semporna in a quiet area the villas are comfortable, clean and spacious. The morning and evening shuttle bus takes you into and back from central Semporna where you get the island hopping / hiking / snorkelling / diving excursions. Personally we much preferred staying a little outside the town rather than in the centre which can be busy and overwhelming. The proprietor was very helpful in arranging the shuttles, provided a plug adapter for our use while there, and info about Semporna. Nice touch to leave an umbrella on the balcony when rain was forecast too. If you want to travel outside of the shuttle bus times the a Grab taxi is around 10myr one way.
