We enjoyed our stay, the location of our room was good. The only few niggles that we had, was that although the room was clean, it smelt a little bit smokey, it was too hot, we tried turning the radiator down a little but it wouldn't stay down, we did open the window, and the pillows were too hard for me. But for the 1 night we stayed it was ok.

More like a club 18-30 experience. The hotel was fantastic, food excellent and staff went way, way beyond. However, the main function of a hotel is to have somewhere to sleep. The hotel had two weddings on the night of my stay and between 12:45 and 14:30 I was unable to sleep for the screaming, laughing, partying that was going on throughout the corridors. I never heard any staff trying to resolve the situation, just plenty of noise. I had to pay £20 surcharge for my dogs to stay and they were not allowed In the restaurant - which is very reasonable, but have to say that they were better behaved that the other animals who were not required to pay any surcharge or not required to follow any basic behavioural rules. On checkout, I was not even asked if I had a pleasant stay. I assume the staff did not want confirmation of their mismanagement. If this is the sort of establishment used but Trip.com, then I can only say first impressions go a long way and I will stick to other hotel brokers in future.

Lovely hotel just a little busy with weddings at the moment. Went in for breakfast on Sunday morning no orange juice, only one slice of brown bread. Ordered our breakfast and after 45 mins told there was no eggs - gave up at that point. That said location was perfect for North East attractions (had a great day in Beamish). Our bedroom was large and comfy. Excellent food on Friday and Saturday evening - just let down by the breakfast!.

I stayed at Hardwick Hotel over the weekend. Where do I start…Rooms were clean and modern, cannot fault. Cleaners in every day. We had a few drinks in the bar on Friday and I would like to praise barman Jarred, a polite and friendly young man. His service was exceptional and drinks were impeccable. Drinks were cleared as soon as we finished and new ones were brought straight to our table. jarred ran the bar alone and despite the high influx of customers, service was spot on. Overall there was nothing to fault about our stay and would highly recommend to anyonethinking of staying here.

The Hotel itself is magnificent - with such a beautiful lake right beside it. The overall atmosphere is 'grand' and welcoming. Our room was also very good - with an extremely comfortable bed, desk, ironing equipment, tea and coffee etc. Couldnt fault the room. The grounds are truly wonderful and we enjoyed a delightful walk around the lake which had swans and geese to entertain us. On the less than positive side we were very disappointed with vegetarian food selection. In a hotel of this price and quality we would hope for a wider range on the mian menu and were very disappointed indeed not to find full vegetarian or full vegan breakfast options on the breakfast menu. Given this lack, we turned to the buffet and found this continental selection also to be poor compared to that recently enjoyed in other hotels. - for example, no nice breads other than slices for toast, only one type of pastry and no range of cheeses. If the food had been better our visit would have received the top rating from us.

One night stay to attend an event on site. No issue with finding a parking spot and checked in online. Welcomed by reception team and given key for the correct room. Have to walk through the bar area and up the stairs as no lift. Room was clean, lots of creaking floorboards, especially overnight from other rooms. WiFi worked well. Two bottles of water appreciated. View was overlooking the lower roof. Shower was hard work due to the head being inverted and head kept touching the wall…. Michael served breakfast and very attentive and friendly. Ala Carte vegetarian English breakfast was no issue at all. Came to reception twice to ask for a later check out as I wasn’t told when it was and both occasions no personnel behind the desk. Checked out 1030 and left key/card in the express tray. Hotel overlooks lake/grounds, very pleasant walk under the sun. Only other issue was the cobwebs over the curtains that need a good clean. Given very good as no option for good and better than average.

Room was near reception and very noisy, breakfast was poor. No butter, sausages were hard and cold, poached egg was hard, bacon was dry, we were told by the waiter that the bacon had been cooked at 6.00am, we arrived at 9.00am one of the bar staff was very miserable and looked like he didn't want to be their. NOT A PLEASANT STAY AT ALL, NOT WORTH OVER £300 WE SPENT ON ROOM, FOOD AND DRINK

We had a voucher for dinner bed and breakfast . We had a premier room, number 212, which was lovely. The staff were very helpful as our first room was noisy and they moved us immediately. The food in the rib room restaurant was excellent - great steak and the twice cooked chips are amazing !! Breakfast was good too. It's just slightly tired and outdated but the upkeep on these places must be such hard work so it's understandable. It was clean and comfortable so overall I would recommend Hardwick Hall.
