Grand Resort Lagonissi

So Disappointed. The "view" photos lured us in and we chose this Hotel over Astir Palace in Vougliameni. I am currently in my bed at Grand Resort and would happily leave if I had not opted for the pre paid rate. I took many photos to show our space's condition. Staff is wonderful , hotel itself is a dump. The view itself is correctly represented on the website, and is beautiful. The pretty expensive Sunset Suite room is dated and poorly maintained although generally clean. The grounds are sloppy and unkempt, none of which are acceptable at these rates. I am currently in my second night in a $2000 per night suite with an unresolved issue of NO LIGHTS in my suite's private pool (2nd night with several requests to repair). I wish this was the only issue. Although clean, the bathroom outlet will not work with my International converter, so I cannot use my hair appliances to get ready for my daughter's wedding. I came back to the hotel this afternoon to find the sliding door that I locked when leaving WIDE OPEN!!! The steam shower does not work, but if it did, the door of the shower has been replaced, but not "sealed" on either side, so the steam would leak out. There are holes in the blackout shade to the interior room that let weird dots of sunlight in. Towel service is not generous and I had to request more than two washcloths. The outside deck was dirty. Private pool was cloudy the first day and cleared to a clear greenish color by the next afternoon. Positive is that the water was nice and cool. Junky umbrella tops have been left on the private beach section in front of our private pool sunset suite in spite of requests to remove them. I tried to move them myself, but they are too heavy. Not all of the lights coming down the stairs to our suite work, creating a safety hazard. Dirty interior switches, and many more issues, some of which you can see in my photographs. Our first night consisted of us making phone calls and answering calls from the front desk to the extent that we could not sit, relax and enjoy our outdoor space. Again, the staff is kind, but the room condition and grounds make it worth a fraction of what I was charged and I would leave immediately if not for the pre paid rate.

A stunning resort and impeccable grounds, but terrible service. Our beachfront “Residential” cabana is absolutely stunning. The resort is on a private peninsula and our cabana has beautiful furnishings and a gorgeous private infinity pool looking out a pristine private beach. Absolutely 100% on setting, ambience, and amenities. Unfortunately, our service experience has been terrible. Upon arrival, my husband booked an 8:30 a.m. tennis session with a pro. He got rackets at the front desk at 8am and was told the Pro would meet him at the court. He got to the court at 8:15 and waited until 9am and the tennis pro never showed up. We let the front desk know when we returned the rackets and they eventually followed up with us to let us know that the tennis session had been scheduled for 11:30pm. That is absolutely ridiculous…nobody wants to play tennis on vacation at 11:30 PM at night. We also had terrible service at breakfast. Our kids enjoyed the breakfast buffet, but all we wanted to order was tea & coffee. We waited and waited for a server and finally stood up and asked the server assigned to the deck…and were told “just a minute”. We continued to wait almost 20 minutes before another server finally appeared to order from. Next, we headed to the beach side pool at which we were told we had to pay €5 for pool towels. We have never stayed at a hotel or resort where one has pay for pool towels. Beautiful location, but abismal service. At this price point, excellent service is a must.

The Grand Resort Lagonissi is out of this world beautiful. Our bungalow was great, the sea was wonderful and we had a great time.

Resort is so close to the city center of Athens but feels like a world away. There are multiple beaches and pools to enjoy the water. Our sunset side bungalow room had a private balcony and what felt like a private beach. Although we didn’t go to the big fancy restaurants on site, the choices were impressive. The more casual restaurants and lounges were excellent, although the service was sometimes slow. But, it’s Greece.
