Bottled water is provided upon check-in (you can get it at the front desk at any time afterwards), and slippers are provided in the house, which is a rare highlight in American hotels. The house is quite spacious and has a good view because it is on a relatively high floor.

The man starred at me then asked, in a highly disrespectful tone, “what do you mean by a turndown service?” Completely shocked that I would encounter such a question at a Nikko hotel, I could not say a word for like ten seconds while that man continued starring at me. How can I reason his behavior if not an intentional embarrassment?
