I feel bad because I wanted to compliment 3 staff members, but it's a week later and I've forgotten their names. We arrived very early - well before check in time, yet they found a room that was ready and quickly checked us in. I haven't been to the area in 25 years so 2 front desk members were more than happy to give us suggestions on how to get into town, restaurants in the area, sites to see, etc. Our room was fairly modern and clean. When we checked out we asked if we could leave our bags because we wanted to go to town for a few hours. Again they were more than happy to do this for us. Very accommodating staff members!!! The fly in the ointment is that the hotel is being remodeled, so there are some unpleasant smells like paint in the common areas. Also, as a result of some of the work being done, there is a sewer smell in the rooms. We kept our window open, which helped, but it can be really annoying for some who are sensitive to this kind of thing. If not for that, I'd give the place 5 stars.

I had the pleasure of being assisted by Samantha. Where do I even begin...Samantha really went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was amazing, and it was. Even on Christmas day, Samantha was so happy, helpful and cheerful. The level of customer service that she provided was phenomenal and she is a great asset to the Hilton team. I will definitely be back. Thank you for making my stay amazing Samantha, I will never forget you!!! Xo

This is a terrible brand hotel that cannot be hostile! !! !! Especially the reception desk is worse than the big car shop! Breakfast is the worst of my brand hotels in more than 100 countries. It is not as good as ”Motel” in New Zealand.

Downtown San Diego
The hotel is in a good environment. It is very close to Little Italy. You can walk there. There is ice cream on the corner. The service attitude is also very good. The soundproofing is not good. You can hear noises from all directions all night.

I'm surprised to see the mix of reviews, this was one of the nicest Hilton Garden Inns I've ever stayed at! I did not have a car, so maybe the parking is tricky if you do have one, but I felt that the property was very clean and pretty, the front desk staff were super friendly and professional, and they gave the upgraded wifi which made my stay even more enjoyable (free wifi at Hiltons is notoriously spotty and slow, in my opinion). I did not get to try the restaurant because my stay was brief but I appreciated that it was there. I liked the hotel so much that I came to TripAdvisor to review it because my Hilton member survey had already expired. Whoever is running the show there right now is improving it I guess, because I would definitely stay here again!
